    Marine grade wiring

I am unfamiliar with marine grade wire. I know it is multi strand tinned for corrosion resistance. What confuses me is the amperage rating. I see for instance charts (see Ref. 1 below) which say 14 AWG is rated for 20 amps DC. I would never consider using a 14 AWG wire for anything greater than...

Fuel consumption 1977 Evinrude 70 hp outboard

I have a 1977 Evinrude 70 hp outboard motor. The motor is running smooth and is totally responsive. There is no excess fuel smell during operation, as in raw fuel. I am currently using about 2 gallons of fuel per hour. Seems high to me. Can I reduce this in any way without effecting performance...

    Fuel usage

Just out of curiosity, what is your hourly fuel consumption rate? What year is your motor? Make/Model? How many HP? 2 or 4 cycle? Is motor I/O or Outboard? I personally am currently running a 1977 Evinrude 70 hp 2 cycle outboard. I am using of average 2 gallons per hour at WOT.

    Fuel and Oil longevity question

Re: Fuel and Oil longevity question Well, today I had the chance to go give this test a try. Most interesting results; 1. It was as clear as clear gets with a very pretty shade of blue/green from the 2 cycle oil. 2. When I shook it, it definitely created a "head", better than on some...

remote throttle box shot? throttle cables junk?

Re: remote throttle box shot? throttle cables junk? As bonz-d said, the 77 has a clip on the throttle, and the 84 uses a nut the same as the shift on both years. But the "Casing guide, control housing", the remote end of cable, part # 206408 and the "Casing guide/O ring assembly", the motor...
