Have a 86 70hp yami outboard which was completely rebuilt last winter have ran about 30 gals of gas thru at this point with a premix of 50 to one in addition to the factory oil injection for the first 20 gallons, the motor runs very well except prolonged idling or trolling carbs were cleaned...
Just wondering if any could tell me if this is a 87. Numbers dont appear to be the same as what I have looked at on different sites.. I.D. tag on motor says YAMAHA 70BETO Line Below 6H3 L xxxxxxxx. Everything looks Identical to 87.. Could this be a Canadian Motor..Thanks

Was looking into buying parts for topend rebuild(top piston scored) gonna replaced all 3 pistons, my question would be oem pistons are 3 ring setup, aftermarkets are 2 ring setup, which is best way to go and why?? Also caged or cageless topend bearings, not a lot of info available on this out...

I have no issues with this motor starts perfect,runs very good, my problem is the idle rpm,s ,idles around 1000 rpm,s I Can slow it down by moving timing arm physically, but its spring loaded and I see no adjustment, am I missing something. thanks
