I am starting a project of adding a transom to a 31' formula hull.
The framework for the transom will be 3 layers of laminated 3/4" marine plywood
cut through the transom attaching to the stringers with a 3/4" plywood skin.
I am not totally familiar with all the latest products available...
I removed my lower leg and found the shaft bushing disintegrated. It came out in pieces and made the leg removal difficult.
Is there any trick to replacing it? The slot where the clip goes seems in tact although there is some corrosion in the area.

I am interested in converting a 31' Formula from inboards to Outboards.
The current power is 318's with V drives. The transom and all stringers are solid but I would feel a little better about reinforcing the transom prior to mounting a bracket and a pair of big outboards on it.
