    4.3 noise troubleshooting

Earlier in the year had a rocker arm explode while underway. Replaced that and have done several oil changes to help clear the debris for the engine. If this noise was here before, I dunno... Cause the rocker arm used to rattle pretty loudly. Before you get on me about adjusting them, they...

    4.3 Mercruiser prop choice

Sorry all my speeds are not gps verified as to calculate prop slip... but please read on. Overall goal is to prop the boat to 5000 rpm's with just me onboard, that way she will still have good grunt when loaded down. I really like the 4 blade aluminum props for pulling and low cost. Well...

Adding electric brakes to boat trailer...

I have been kicking around the idea of trailer brakes on my boat trailer. In reality, i will not need them for a while. I need a duramax and a 5th wheel to complete my little plan too. That is a little ways off since i have to finish the basement before anymore toys are purchased (per the...

New Prop For 2000 Crownline 180br

Re: New Prop For 2000 Crownline 180br You can find the gear ratio on the LH side of the drive on the upper half. But i would keep same size and pitch unless it was lacking. Just look on the outside of the hub between the bases of the blades. Or in the inner hub by the retaining nut...

    Bearing grease zerks?

Re: Bearing grease zerks? Either way sounds like you need to pull the hubs to change the rear seal. I am curious as to what setup you have... is the zerk on the end of the spindle like this? Or is it the bearing buddy like this? As far as tires... i would go to your local tire shop where...

Mercruiser V6 Exhaust conversion 1 pc to 2 pc

It looks like the 1pc were only used 1996-2000. Short lived... so they must have been bad design. Bondo has informed me in another thread that these manifolds need to depart the boat asap. So, I have been researching the conversion kit for converting exhaust manifolds from old 1pc to 2pc...

Trying to get more... ended up with less

I have my 01 GX 185 4.3v6. Ran her with the 23p alum 3 blade and was 4800rpm at 52 mph. Boat felt great... good holeshot and speed. I could trim until the prop blew out. Thought i could do better. Swapped for a solas 4 blade ss 23p. Today we went 4000 rpm and 48mph. Holeshot felt sluggish...

I was wondering the other day how long other people leave their boat at wide open, full throttle, trimmed out? We dont boat on very large lakes where there are miles and miles to run... we really only run WOT for a couple minutes then the rest is at a good cruise speed. Anywho, let me know...
