Long story short, I was towed in due to a dead batery. After getting a brand new marine dual purpose battery I fired up the engine and put a meter on the batery. I was getting 11.9 volts. I tooke my rectifier out to look at it and realized it had lots of corrosion of its internal components...

Ok, 1986 or 87 merc 75hp ser. no. 0a953815. I rebuilt the carbs, and reinstalled, boat ran fine. I replaced the fuel pump diaphram, and now it wont stay running. I prime it, it runs off what is in the bowls then dies out.
Is there something common I might have missed?

I recently replaced the deck in my aluminum CC and prior to doing so I sealed all my rivits and seams with gulvit..... or so I thought. I have a small leak but a leak none the less between two aluminum sections on my hull. Can this be sealed from the outside or do I need to pull my deck up...

So about three weeks ago I noticed a decrease in my engine performance. I first thought it was a carb issue, because I would spray the carbs out and then it would work fine for a bit, but then "bog down" again. Next I checked out the fuel tank (26 gal.).

I know i need to replace my wires, however my local dealer says they are NLA for my engine and I will have to make my own. I assume there is a "do it yourself kit" but I have never heard of making your own spark plug wires. Anyone have any insight on this. My motor is a 1986 75hp Mercury 4...
I just found 2 grounding straps broken that go from the engine block to the metal frame on my 1987 merc 75 hp. Could this cause an interruption of spark leading to poor engine performance?
My 87 mercury 75hp O/B has a cracked flexplate and I found out that part is discontinued. The last part number is 8722A6. Can anyone help me find one. Thanks!
