    Aye, thar be mushrooms!

Yes, I should include a pic. Lets get that overwith now. On the underside of my engine cover (see sig for video...it's the narrow cover the canuck lifts up over the engine compartment at 45 seconds into the review, some might call it a sun cushion...it's the cover behind the rear seats) there...

2013 America's Cup to be held in SF Bay

Pretty cool. I've never been to a yacht race. I'd imagine there would be anchoring areas near the course to watch the action? I'm a couple hours from the Bay, and could see going down to see some of it from the water...sounds like something fun, and memorable, to do with the kids.

    This is pretty cool

I've seen other AIS location sites, but this one of the SF Bay region (I live nearby) is awesome. Click on the "full days animation" or "view current map full screen" for fun. I find myself sitting and clicking on ships, coffee in hand, on Sunday mornings. It's just neat to have access to this...

    Globes of Brass.

And lots and LOTS of luck...yowza. Saw this on another forum. I think I'm still puckered just from watching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBsA3wa5OGE

Any update on the e-mail issue?

Just wondering. Must be killing traffic. I know that iBoats is primarily a retail business, with a forum tagged on (which generates sales..from me at least) but it's been about a month since the email notifications went away. I know it's harder for me to keep track of my OWN posts, let alone...

Fixing male canvas snaps on boat

Hello, The PO "fixed" some of the snaps on the boat with pop-rivets, instead of screws. I suspect the screw holes were enlarged and he thought it was a good idea. Now they are loose, the hole is even larger, and I suspect that the fiberglass behind is now cracked from the pressure of the...

    Wife's away...

with the kids for 5 days. Beautiful weather this weekend, clear skies, the sun's out, highs in the 60's. Second cup of coffee and heading out with a Montecristo #2 (from some island, south of Miami) to stare at the boat and figure out what to do first. Flush and winterize? Mount the new trim...

    Gah...Time to leave CA

But where to go that has the boating opportunities that I have now? I can be on the Sac river in .5 hours, on SF bay in 1.5 hours, on Lake Tahoe in 2 hours, or Lake Shasta in 3. And dozens of smaller lakes withing a 50 mile range. States I like the most (in no particular order): Idaho Wyoming...

    Removing plastic DORAL logo's?

Well, it's not the removal I'm concerned about...I'm good at breaking things! I'm going to do a complete compound / polish / wax job on the entire hull this winter and I'm trying to figure out how the BIG (3" high) DORAL logos that are attached to the side of the hull. I'd like to remove them...

    Remove hardware or not?

I was replacing the bow light last night, and took a scotch-brite pad to clean the gunk out from underneath and - wow. The gel coat is really dirty. I couldn't believe how much whiter it was where I had scrubbed. I was already planning on doing a complete go-over this winter with rubbing...

    Tow Vehicle Tires

Instead of joining another darned forum on tow vehicles...I thought I'd ask around here first. I just picked up a fleet-return 2008 Silverado 2500HD with 34K on it...she's a real beast. Found out they had the locking 4.10 rear end installed. That makes for 12,500 lbs towing capacity...woot! I...

    Another Marine Head question

Didn't want to take the other thread off course. The PO of my boat removed the freshwater pump head, and used the space for a large subwoofer box and amp. I have the owners manual (Thaks to the nice folks at Doral) and have a fairly good idea where everything is. The waste tank is 13 gallons...

Windshield spread and sitting on a trailer

I've read some of the threads on windshield spread here, and after I finished freaking out a bit, I doubt it's a bad structural issue. Everything is solid, and I'm pretty sure that it's spent most of it's life on a Trailer in a hot, dry climate. Las Vegas, to be exact. My windshield is spread...

    "High Performance" Spark Plugs

I'm talking about the Platinum tipped, or the multi-electrode types you see advertised for high performance car engines. Seems a marine power plant is asked to be "high performance" much more often than a car. Is there a marine equivalent to these fancy-schmancy plugs? If so, are there any...

Labor Day on the Sacramento River

At a riverside restaurant for lunch (The Alamar; stiff drinks, good sammich, bad service)...not on a boat. Only three words could describe what we saw on the river: Boating. Special. Olympics. And we were a few miles up from the confluence of the American / Sacramento. We drove down to check...

    Trailer parking winch?

I have an odd shaped, but large, side-yard where the trailers get stored. The new boat trailer will be by FAR the longest and widest I've backed through "the gauntlet". Been too chicken to try it yet..and needed to clean up / sell old trailer, etc. The best way to explain is that there is a...

Blue LED's on my tower speakers??

The PO added speakers to the tower, and they have blue LED's surrounding the speaker. To top it off, he has them turned forward, not aft. "It looks like a cop boat at night" was the quote. Yeah...not a big 'plus' to me...don't need to make Mr. Sheriff mad, and it's illegall to run...

    Online source for Tower hardware?

I'm missing a bolt from my (manufacturer unknown) wakeboard tower. It's the bolt that secures one half of the 'knuckle' connected to the tower to the other half of the 'knuckle' bolted to the boat. it's an oddball stainless hex-bolt. Is it easier just to buy a new knuckle? Any sources...

Trailering Clips for VP 2001 DP-SM?

I just recieved the Sierra trailering clips I ordered from iBoats (fast service, BTW!)...but they are too short...looked on the back and it says 2007 and newer. They are about 8" or less long, and my trim rams are 10.5" fully extended. So..gotta return them. Looked all around before I ordered...
