1959 Dowty Turbocraft Possible Resto

Re: 1959 Dowty Turbocraft Possible Resto I like all my projects, they take more time than they should. I re-enforced the stringers, installed a new transom, new deck and coated it with white polyurethane (Line X)

40hp yamaha - starts and then stalls

I have a 1992 40hp yamaha that was running just fine until a week or so ago. It now stalls shortly after start-up (video link below). I have cleaned the carbs three times now paying special attention to the pilot jets. They were completely clean, I hope because I'm anal about fuel and...

    Opinions / Guidance pourable foam

First off I'm a long time reader - infrequent poster. I have gleaned numerous scraps of info and complete 'how's to' from these forums - thank you. Currently I have a 1959 Dowty turbocraft (very similar to the Buehler turbocrafts) under restoration. I'm about to install the deck after a...

    Suzuki 25hp running hot?

I have a 1994 DT25C that at idle, will seem to run hot. The tell tale water is almost too hot to touch. I may have a themostat issue. Does that sound logical? Any thing else I should check? Thanks

    1959 Dowty Turbocraft Possible Resto

Hello all - Looking for input / suggestions on a possible project I've dug up. It's a 1959 (I believe - maybe a '60) Dowty Turbocraft, very simlar to a Buehler Turbocraft. I'm at the evaluation stage right now, but I'd really like to attempt this resto. I'm really more of an engine guy and...

    DT25 rebuild or not

I have a 1993 DT25 that I have apart due to low compression. I would like your opinion on if I should rebuild it or part it out. My goal at the end is to at least be able to sell the motor for the price of the parts and machining needed to properly rebuild it. Things needed: 2 bearings on...

    '92 yamaha 40hp tach question

How easy is it to install a simple tach on the above motor. I was hoping to buy a unit (any recommendations?)and mount it near my battery as it's a tiller model. I've got the OEM owner's manual with full electrical diagrams.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Have a...

    92-40hp yamaha crank bearing question

I'm in the process of rebuilding the above motor. When pressing new bearings on the crank shaft (upper and lower), the manual says the seal cap section should point to the crankshaft on the lower bearing but doesn't mention the top. If the capped portion of the bearing points to the crankshaft...

    '92 - 40 hp oiling question

I'm rebuilding the above motor and noticed in 1994 Yamaha increased the amount of oil injected at WOT to 50:1 from 80:1. Is it possibly to change the ratio from my oil injection system at WOT to reflect the changes Yamaha made in '94?.

    Yamaha 2 stroke 40hp re-build or not

Looking for your advice on whether or not to re-build a 1993 40hp Yamaha. It has a bad cylinder head and pistons are questionable. It does have a completely new (last july)bottom end after hitting a rock ($900.00 paid by insurance co.). I can buy it for approximately $400.00. I would rebuild...

    2001 2-stroke Yamaha 30hp question

I am debating upgrading to a 30hp 2-stroke yamaha (2001)from my current 20hp 2-stroke (1992). The 30 hp weighs approximately 50 lbs more than the current 20 hp. It will be mounted on a 16' open hull, deep 'V' aluminum. I currently experience 'lack of horsepower' with two guys and all the...

    20 hp Yamaha questions

I picked up a 1991 Yamaha 20hp 2-stroke(model 20 MLHO) on the weekend. It was fogged and gas stabiliser was ran through it when it was 'winterised', but had not been running for 4-5 years. It was purchased in 1996 and has less than 10 hours of service. To my surprise it started almost right...
