    1959 Johnson 5.5 Flushing question

    Just got this motor, is it safe to run this old lower unit with a Water Flusher/ garden hose type? I read never to run these old motors out of water, ie: in a garbage can or such full of water. Which is right? Can I use the flusher/hose or not? Thanks, Dan
