    Looking for stowage solutions

I like to stow items such as type 2 PFDs, anchor and lines under the bench seats long term. However, these areas are not water tight so I need some kind of deck cover that will allow water to drain away and keep stowed items elevated to allow air flow. I'm thinking some kind of grid material...

Pontoon cover analysis paralysis - advice appreciated

I recently purchased a 2012 Avalon LS1900 and I need to do something about the cover. I have searched online and cannot find an OEM replacement cover, and I don't think they use Sunbrella material anyway (I'm a big fan of Sunbrella!). I'm considering taking the old cover apart to use as a...

    Shift cable bellows

Alpha I Gen 2 shift cable bellows leaks and must be replaced. Freshwater use only. Does the shift cable have to be replaced?

    Do you burgee?

I was looking at some old boat advertisements and noticed that they invariably sport a burgee with the manufacturer's name. This is, of course, completely understandable. However, watching some youtube videos, I have been noticing quite a number of boats with burgee flying. So that led me to...

    Banks and Batteries

So having two 12v batteries in parallel would constitute a bank, right? I'll have to think about that propane coffee maker. Don't have a lot of above deck storage in my little boat, and already have an alcohol stove. I didn't realize just how young my wife is until I learned she didn't know how...

    Banks and Batteries

My boat does not have a generator, so I have been thinking I'd like to install an inverter large enough to run a coffee pot and television. However, my boat only has two batteries, which I'm sure isn't near enough to do the job. My charger, a ProNautic 1210P is only a 10 amp charger, but it is...

What would you use to heat?

So, I finished my boat/green house and my boat is protected from the weather. I plan on doing a bunch of work on it throughout the winter and need to be able to work in a sweatshirt rather than a parka. I also need it to be warm enough for the epoxy and 4000 to cure when I re-install the port...

    Winterizing - sorta!

I've actually already winterized all the water systems and engine, but I want to keep the snow and ice off the boat, and possibly get some maintenance work completed before spring (still have the port lights sitting on a shelf). So today I started this "winterizing project". Hopefully I'll get...

Source for extra large frame u-bolts?

I purchased a Smith 40" LED Lighted Heavy Duty Post Guide kit for my trailer, but the U-bolts were way too short to reach the bottom of the frame. So I ordered their Large Frame U-bolt kit - 3" wide x 5.25" tall. Turns out they are too short too! :mad-new: They only barely reach to the bottom...

Your Thoughts on Buying a Bayliner

Ok, I have a better understanding of what you were saying. It sounds to me like your trim switch is the problem. It may be as simple as a broken/disconnected wire, or dirty contacts. As southkogs pointed out, different controllers have different set ups, though the function remains the same. The...

Looking for impeller o-ring, could use some help please

1995 7.4L Gen V serial OF437176 I've searched the Mercury parts catalog with no success. Plenty of gaskets but no o-ring anywhere. Perhaps my impeller housing has been changed to a different year or something.

Is there a weight limit for roller bunks?

The bottom of my Sea Ray is painted and the friction between the bottom paint and the bunks on the trailer really make recovery a chore at times. I'm pondering on going to roller bunks or a "hybrid" with a mix of carpet bunks and roller bunks. The boat weighs about 7000 pounds. Would this...

NEED HELP. Bayliner 2355 water around motor (outside engine) in hold winterizing?

Sounds to me like you've got it taken care of as well as can be expected. My driveway is pretty steep too (it's uphill both ways!). The best you can do is take steps to ensure it won't roll away and that it is as level side to side as possible.

What kind of Starcraft is this?

I'm interested in approaching the owner about selling this boat in his back yard, but want to know as much as possible before broaching the subject. The registration expired early 2005, so I'm thinking it's been sitting a while. What can you tell me about this boat?

    Star nut on thermostat housing

Still winterizing the 7.4L. I need to pull the thermostat housing and thermostat, but don't have any star sockets. I'll buy a set if I have to, but would prefer buying just what I need to do the job. Anybody know what size I need?

    Quicksilver Corrosion Guard

Anybody actually do this? My manual says to "Spray power package components on inside of boat every 2-3 weeks with Quicksilver Corrosion Guard to protect finish from dulling and corrosion. External power package components may also be sprayed." I'm hesitant to spray anything on my otherwise...

    Replacing incandescent lights with LEDs

I have five 1141 lamps I want to convert to LEDs. I have replaced approximately 24 1141 bulbs in my camper with LEDs that work perfectly. No problems over the past year. I had two LEDs left over from the conversion, so I plugged them into a couple lights on the boat. Neither LED worked. I took...

What size socket do I need for this?

All my sockets are either too small or too big for the nut on my Bravo II drive, so I'll have to pick one up in town tomorrow. Anybody know offhand what size I need?

Rod run and doowop, Charleston, WV

I'm a bit slow posting but figured better late than never. About 0700 October 5th, I launched from the public ramp near my home. Rather than leave my truck and trailer unattended for a week, I drove it home and walked back (about two blocks downhill). My stepson came by so I was able to leave...
