Got the old 56 15hp Johnson going today ran pretty good considering. I think I am going to have to blow out the carbon, smokes like an old freight train. A couple of questions, are J8C plugs ok with engine or are they a little too hot.
Second while trying to start the motor a lot of fuel runs...

Found the wire in the local lawn mower repair shop, good advice. Just noticed another problem, one of the legs on the recoil starter housing is cracked. It can probibly be welded but I would rather replace it, anyone know of a source for this part....................thank's mjm
Picked up a couple of old Johnson's, a 56/15hp and a 57/ 18hp look like the same motor. My question, both have copper core ignition wire, it's getting hard to find but stainless is available localy. Will it work, thanks............mjm
