    My new ‘66 jupiter gem

Welcome Beedub! You come with pics (Starmada mob dues paid in full!) along with a story how you evicted your wife from the garage (and lived to tell us about it :ROFLMAO:) That boat should really boogie with a healthy 70 on there!

    Are All Boats Repairable?

did you purchase the hull? if its in your possession, you may as well remove the bedliner and ID every leak...then determine if it's worth proceeding. the spots you show are really bad however they can be patched. As @jbcurt00 mentioned, also inspect the rib ends for cracking from the...

    1968 StarCraft Holiday restoration

So sorry to see this jdv; I just got the devastating news from moserkr today. :( These multi-year resto-rigs are more than just boats...they catalogue everything from memories made with family and friends, forum chatter to world events. It's hard not to recall things that were going on in our...

    68 Offshore restoration

we recommend using solids on anything structural &/or below the waterline. A solid rivet will completely fill / plug each hole with aluminum as it expands...you're getting complete, intimate contact with materials that you're securing; the head, stem/expansion and bucktail/expansion. If you...

    1978 SS 16 restoration

Nice progress! You're making short work of it. My advice on gluv-it...apply to only where you need it; seams & bucktails. blanket covering the entire bottom hull skin is a recipe for corrosion down the road (example).

    New-To- Me 1972 Starcraft 18' Mariner-V... Thoughts?

I was comparing the freeboard of a 21' in your picture above...what you have looks more in line with the 18' (counting the # of lapstrakes). The deck should be around the height of the integrated spray rail. Your plan is fine for a quick disaster check. Metal fatigue and/or corrosion issues...

    New-To- Me 1972 Starcraft 18' Mariner-V... Thoughts?

welcome! I expected that 18' mariner to have alot more freeboard...is the entire main deck raised (perhaps to make it easier to retrieve pots and/or hide any rot)? If it were me, i'd gut the interior straight away; you'll learn alot more about the true condition of your hull. The outer...

    New (to me) boat owner

welcome! I bet that carp was a battle on the spin-cast setup! very nice rig! you may have dropped spark on 1 cylinder; if you can't get it sorted, drop a thread over in the Johnson/Evinrude section.

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

Very ambitious undertaking! Strakes are what you removed along with the keel. Happy riveting! :D(y)

22' starcraft islander, crack(s) in hull -- aluminum repair options?

late to the crack party  . Deck and sidepanel removal is needed. There's no easy button for fixing this right...we're just seeing a small window...i wouldn't be the least bit surprised if there are other areas that need repair. Given how that crack propagates along the chine break...

adding access hatches to Islander (tracking down a leak)

Is it an I/O or O/B Model? How much water is coming in? IMO, Adding access ports at this point would be taking a shot in the dark. +1 on adding water while on the trailer...just enough to fill most of the bottom rivets and use the jack to shift water to different locations.

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

before laminating try to make sure the bow of each piece counteracts each other: () or )(. Avoid (( or ))...if that makes any sense

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

first, stop using a rifle to remove rivets :ROFLMAO: Avoid welding...esp so close to the double rivet seam. The seam sealer will run out, contaminate the weld and you'll be left with a very leaky part of the boat. One idea i have looking at it, to at least fill the hole with solid aluminum...

make sure you're not holding the bucking bar to tight to the rivet...you almost want to let it float there and bounce.

My First Boat, 1972 Starcraft Nova 16' Johnson 85HP

Welcome to the Starmada! We've had a few Novas restored here in the group...@MNhunter1 completed a 15' O/B Nova a few years back if you need a little motivation! One of my favorite boats with the trademark single recessed stripe, no faux lapstrakes and the red/white/blue starcraft emblem...
