    1977 Evinrude 55HP -> Bad compression on one cylinder

    I just bought this engine, and got it cheap because it idles badly. A compression test gave 130 psi on top, and 150 on the bottom. He said he had been using it for slow speed fishing. :facepalm: I hope the rings are carbed up on the top cylinder, is there some easy solution to this?

    Convert 1977 55hp Evinrude to a 60hp?

    I wonder if it is possible to convert this one to a 60hp by replacing the carb or swap in bigger jets? Can I use carbs from johnson as well? Hmmm. Just bought an engine of which the previous owner told me it did not idle correctly. If Im lucky its only the carbs. Bad luck -> compression is bad...

    1972 50hp Johnson short shaft kit?

    I just wonder if it is possible to transform a 1972 50hp Johnson long shaft to a short shaft? It would really make it easier for me to motor my new old 15 feet boat, which demands a short shafted engine... Short shafted engines are a little seldom over here...
