    lost drain plug in lower unit while running

    i was running today and my engine started bogging and acting overheated so i stopped inspected and fished a while. when i left boat would only get up to about 1/4 speed and making some noises so i reinspected and found lower unit drain plug missing and 0 oil my question is is my lower unit shot...

    serial number help

    hello i have a mercury 20 hp it says thunderbolt ignition on the fron has the aluminum band style clamp around cowl in blue letterin the serial number is 5731223 yet icant find it anywhere...i believe its an 80/81 :confused:

    is my lower unit bad

    just gought a boat and got it running took off from dock went about a mile running 75% trottle andall of a sudden it wrapped out (revd up). i tried going but it would throttle up but never get faster than an idle speed so i idled all the way back to thre dock it will go about 5% above idlein...
