    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

and future things, I noticed that there is a highly recommended intake manifold upgrade available via Edelbrock. It's about $500 but it's designed to allow an easy upgrade to vortec heads and to flow a little better than the $300 stock marine manifold. I think it's worth just 10hp, but that's...

I was kind of thinking the ball valve (full port) would make it easier to get the crud out, but I dunno for sure. I was also thinking to keep the hoses off but give me an option to run a hose to them via a thread in attachment.

I have also been researching marine 4.3's during the week assuming the worst-case scenario. What I found was that they started doing roller cams a few years before this 94. I didnt pull the intake yet, but I'm expecting to find a roller setup in there, also because we know it's a balance...

for now, it's going back together. Waiting for $$ and then a new engine, and for my mechanic to decide if this is a task he wants to take on or not.

and a set of new manifolds to go on. I also got excited and saw this, Hoping it was the cause of the water in the oil. On the one side, the riser gasket was failing, and just a little water would sit in there. I don't see any signs that this actually made it into a cylinder.

Well, bad news for the 4.3l I'll have some pictures soon, but I found a crack in the block right above the starter motor. For a moment there I thought the head gasket was just rusted (assuming it was a MLS). but then I noticed the head gasket above that. Looks like it cracked along the block...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

well today I'm spent some time letting the boat run on muffs. I pulled the oil fill tube on the valve cover, and both of the valve cover vents and let it steam out the remaining water. Once done I pulled the two block drains and the manifold drains. the block drains had some soot, almost like...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

The next thing I get to work out are block and manifold drains. Is there any reason why I can't just use some brass ball valves? :) I have two "boat" block drains on order, but I'm thinking a couple ball valves and some hoses to make later season fishing much easier on me... Leaning towards...

Well my first service manual arrived today. I was expecting to see the manual for the 4.3l, but it looks like the seller sat on the order and it's already past the delivery date now. What I have now is the merc out drive service manual, so that's a good start. However I really wanted the engine...

    1974 Chieftain 25 "Adventurer" Restoration

I really enjoyed my starchief. Coming from a Jetstar, it's a whole new world of boating. I'm sold on the larger boats now. My newest boat already has me thinking about a bathroom, plus I really want to make it a camper. And I have a poop schedule, first thing in the morning! I already...

    1970’s StarCraft 21’ Cuddy Cabin

Dozer is an artist. I remember following along with this one. I did my best to follow his lead and do the polished sides and bottom. That man surely knows his ****, I gave up and went with the sides on my chief only but not a mirror polish. 😆 That's not something that I'll ever attempt again.

Fram, that was the error. ;) Lame for them to rule out on some bs related to running a different filter... I'm curious how that happened, however having a tool designed to dissemble oil filters is an eye opener! And these warranties ran out back in the 90's I'm sure. There is another...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Apparently if the exhaust has a hole in it, then when the engine isn't running it can drain back into the engine. And since I left the muffs on, there is a chance that's where the leak is. The seller also told me he pulled the deck and applied some of that rivet sealer to everything. Looking...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I have this motorcycle jack that I installed some rivnuts into, and then made a little platform to support the 6l80 and the transfer case from my tahoe. That combo = heavy as fk!! I pictured me making a little support out of lumber like that to get the out drive removed. but that looks...

As it's raining today, this got me thinking about vinyl flooring for the new boat. Found this stuff on ebay, resembles teak. Not cheap at $33 per foot (8ft 6in wide)! Looking at other options, I guess I just forgot how much this stuff costs. And this is not a small deck like my old starchief.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

No pictures yet, but I found the front vent hatch has some issues. Trying to open the thing while chilling in the cabin I found the glass opened with some gas-powered strut power! But it left the rest of it behind. :ROFLMAO: At first, I wasn't sure if I was missing a hinge or something, but it...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Here is the only picture i have of the deck area, security cam view! :ROFLMAO: (Engine cover is off in this picture) Picking up some merc 25w40 from Walmart I noticed they had some boat vinyl cleaner in the same isle, so I decided to give it a try. I can confirm that stuff really works! I...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I have been learning about I/O via YouTube and internet searching as time allows. It looks like if worst case scenario, I can use a truck block, and then rebuild the engine with fresh rings and a fresh marine camshaft. Likely if I end up going that route, I'll try either picking up a block with...

    18' Starcraft Starchief OB Rebuild

Boy, going through memory lane trying to fix some of my signature links! I had more issues with my original tow vehicle, then I bought a Tahoe to get me to the lake. That turned into a nightmare, and a lesson in 6l80 and lS2 building! So here I am several years later, finally having the Tahoe...
