    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I ordered a strip of this EVA teak flooring foam stuff from amazon. It was $11 shipped and really meant to just be a trim piece. This stuff is all over amazon, and some of those images are beautiful. the issue is you need to butt it up against each other, leaving areas where water can get...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Well, I drove myself nuts for a few days trying to remember where the heck I put the box of stainless screws and bolts that I have had left over from the several boats I have worked on over the years. I have absolutely no idea where I put them. o_O One last attempt will be in the attic...

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

I will note that the factory LiveWell on the islander does draw water and it has a separate exit on the back, real low on the water line! Bilge is near the top.

Normally they spit out to the side, so not through the transom. I only have two boats setup for a factory bilge pump, my Nova, and the Islander. Both have the bung on the right-hand side near the back.

I also had some questions answered about my issues with reverse. Apparently the high five prop is supposed to suck bad in reverse. Another question I had was the end play on the output shaft. I bet I have a good 1/4in, so the question was if that's normal. Reading around the internet, it seems...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I'll be a long ways away from having this thing worthy of such a title. Biggest issues right now, Carpet needs to be gone!! Need some sort of permanent interior ladder system to prevent future mishaps. Sealing stuff via 5200 since the last rains proved I'm getting water through...

if you want to rebuild that nose structure, Pull the rub rail insert out by starting from the back with the transom corner caps off, from there you should see either rivets or bolts. You will need access to the backside in order to get the nuts off. Once the railing has been removed, it's easy...

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

I used MariDeck vinyl flooring, and I used some outdoor rated flooring glue from Home Depot to stick it down. Look on ebay for the stuff, that's where I bought it originally. Main thing you want is some UV protection from whatever you use. The marine flooring also has a nice texture to it...

1973 Starcraft SuperSport 16ft. restoration questions

I did something like this on my starchief build, but I also had my floors coated in west system epoxy, so I filled the holes in and sanded smooth. When working with the west system stuff, I found that name brand wax paper was my best friend. The cheap wax paper liked to stick and not remove...

Yeah high five prop. Not sure why the selection, but the first experiance I have had with a prop of this style. I don't think that prop likes to go in reverse, or I might need to look at the lower unit over the winter. and we took it out early saturday morning before the storm rolled in. Nice...

I also happen to have a couple very nice marine fuse panels on hand, something I bought for the Jeep. I got several different sizes to figure out what would work and decided to keep the rest as spares and tossed into the box i have for marine wiring. Good news is most of the boat looks great...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Getting the boat ready for a little test this weekend, I was having some issues with the horn. At first I figured it was something with the switch since I can see curent draw and a clicking sound coming from the horn when activated. then last night it started honking, then it would stop...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Well I spent a little time last night cleaning the hull. I hit it with some mild rubbing compound and got some shine back to the old paint. A pretty good-looking boat that has been well used over it's many years of life. Also last night I bought a couple tubes of 5200, and began work on the...

And I received my refund check from the seller today. (y) Awesome guy, I think a lot of people would have just blocked my number. I told the seller about this thread and how to find it, if he was interested in seeing this thing get fixed up and enjoyed. If you're seeing this; you're awesome...

lol, yeah probably. :ROFLMAO: I have two of those ball valves on my brand new manifolds to make it easier to winterize this thing there. First thing I did was to install two plugs in there for good measure. Having a 3/4in ball valve facing the front of the engine, I started imagining bent rods...

    1974 Chieftain 25 "Adventurer" Restoration

Trick with the wax paper is to first use name brand. Difference in the amount of wax they use (for some reason). Cheap stuff I ended up sanding off, the brand name stuff peeled off clean and nice. Then just get all of the air out, otherwise the epoxy will get bubbles in it.

I would for sure suggest sealing or even glass over that plywood to give it some extra resistance to water/moisture. Some guys were using outdoor rated wood sealer to coat the wood to keep costs down. I went with West Marine epoxy, stuff is super strong and easy to work with. but it's not...

And last night I got the water pump replaced in the outdrive. the old one had a mold date of 2013! There was just a little burning on the bottom of it, probably from running out of the water for a few minutes. The seller told me it was last changed about 5 years ago. I can confirm the water...
