    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I think I want to pull the tank up to take a good solid look at it. It looks like the wood pieces are to keep the tank from bouncing, but the foam or whatever pad is pretty much gone. I'm assuming there should be something under the tank as well. And the little side pieces for the flooring...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I had a little bit of rot on the front starboard side of the center flooring section. I thought I might be able to just epoxy the corner back in place and coat the rest of the wood while I'm at it. but I see it's pretty spongy at this point. The port and starboard floors have the same feeling...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

More fun today, motivation isn't there. But the tank is empty and I wanted to look over it before I go get fresh gas. I finally pulled the center floor to take a look. The little loose wood piece, Well I figured out where it goes. A nut fell off, and I happened to find it in the bilge while...

    1988 21' Mariner CC Gas Tank ??

I did some searching online last night, i didn't find a solid answer. Suggestions i did find said you had anywhere from a 52 gallon belly tank to a 35 gallon.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Flooring came today, soon I'll make that interior not ugly. But I'll probably end up boating first. the check valves I bought also came, I found them too restrictive and took them apart to do some modifications. I'm hoping it works but if not, I'll probably just put a shut off ball...

I also have a set of these, both in 1/2 and 3/8in Mostly it's a guess on the fuel line size, so we shall see how it goes. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09TT4BVB5 Plan is to run one after the T on both the kicker and main engine. Hopefully that will prevent it from pulling air/fuel from the other.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

and I pulled a little over 30 gallons of fuel out of that islander tank. The gauge said it was about 1/2 full when we had it out last year. So that's about right. The fuel is still "good", it's just double treated with Stabil, but still, it's 2+ years old. I'll have a solid year + supply of...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I spent a little time measuring and disassembling some things on the boat. I have the new flooring ordered, and hopefully I have enough to also wrap the doghouse/engine cover once I rebuild it. the PO glued carpet on all of the side panels, i really do believe it's indoor carpet by the way the...

also notice the yellowing stuff in the bilge. This was the PO chasing a goose in the form of a hull leak. Some of that stuff is thick!!! We did our best to chip it up, but the really thick parts are in there.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

Well over the weekend I made some big progress. First the new bilge pump was installed into the boat. That 1500gph rule pump was both heavy and tall. That made it so it wanted to rock with a thin aluminum sheet mount. So I went to the hardware store to see what sort of options I had. I pretty...

    1984 starcraft islander

note that if you go thicker on the floors the trim will need to be adjusted to go along with it. I did 3/4in on my floors on the chief, part of that was to support the pedestal seats, but If i were to do it again I would go with 5/8th in. I would also coat the floors with more epoxy, especially...

    1976 Starcraft Chieftain 18' OB - restomod

That sucks when you're so close, but I understand. I tend to hold onto projects too long myself. I want to say try selling the chief as is with the engine as an option. see how that goes, avoid selling the engines alone at first.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

the doghouse's vinyl is also a long piece and less than 2ft wide. looking at about a solid 2x10 piece needed to complete it. that would be expensive if I went with marideck, so I'm trying to find another idea. Maybe I'll just run with EVA foam. I'm guessing my main deck is at least...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

And this is the doghouse with the PO's carpet stripped from it. Vinyl sides with carpet upper, directly on the wood. The wood didn't fair well over the last 30 years. The image shows the distortion of the sides, I'm pretty sure I'm replacing the wood to fix it. 😕 I'm expecting the same sort...

Also, as I'm handling this float switch. the contact is a little stiff, so it got me thinking about the whole bypass on/off/auto thing.

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I'm thinking the idea is if the float switch doesn't work for some reason the manual switch would act as a bypass. I found rule has a switch that looks pretty much identical to the starcraft ones. It would be pretty slick If I could slip it in there. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014471NK

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I'm thinking I want to wire this one with an on/off/auto switch that also includes a status light. Like so, Source: https://newwiremarine.com/how-to/wire-bilge-pump-switch/ Hard part is trying to find a switch that matches the 94 StarCraft flip switches. This boat also has a bilge pump...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I also had been planning to pull the transom assy from the boat, replace the seal and reinstall. but that fizzled out, but I still had the exhaust y seal on hand. I found the transom assy was so loose the washers could be spun by hand! so, I tightened that down, and pulled the exhaust Y to get...

    I'm back with a 1994 Islander 221V!

I also pulled the bilge pump out and took a look at it. This thing was working as of last year. 800gph, I forget the brand. we had the task of removing the gulvit or whatever sealer the prior owner used in is wild goose chase trying to locate and stop the water leak. since it was under the...
