    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

Hey DW, Looks like I am late to the party on this post, welcome to the team! That is a great looking boat. She will look excellent when you are done. You're making great progress for a couple of months of work under your belt. The stripping of the old paint and contact cement is the worst...

I used West System on all the wood in my boat. It is a little pricy though.

You're hilarious Classic! I'm going to talk to the fella that is rebuilding my lower end. My guess is that he will know what it is, and will probably have the part. Cheers

Hey Classic! I was referring to the hole directly above it. Have a look at the pic: My question is what is the name of the part that goes in the hole that the arrow is pointing at? There was some sort of rubber plug with a metal core that broke up when I was trying to clean it.

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Hey Folks! While I was messing around with the trailer I discovered a minor issue with the motor that is tied to the grease nipples for the power trim. Have a look at the pics: This is the current state of the motor. My neighbor and I pulled the lower end, and took it to a guy that deals...

Hey Watermann, That sounds like a good idea. I am going to do some measurements on the cradle right now to see what the spread is on the supports. The cradle is actually aligned very nicely. I will see if I can come up with a plan to replicate that. My son and I will be reassembling the...

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Back again! Some trailer shots: The trailer is pretty rusty, but that is to be expected for a 1973. The PO had attached wood to the frame, not sure why other than to maybe strengthen the frame? The wood board in the back has the transom saver mounted on it. I will need to get an...

I'm thinking the noodles will protect the cover from the metal edges of the window frame. Same for the trolling motor mount, those edges look like they will tear through fabric.

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Hello Everyone, This is a happy fourth anniversary for me on Iboats! 🎂 Well the boat is pretty much done less a couple of minor things I have to do. One of which is to get the fish finder installed, however that will not stop me from launching the boat this summer, or early Fall. Some pics...

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Hey Gents, Its been a while, but I have been busy. I will have a few posts over the next week or so. Interestingly enough, tomorrow marks the 4th anniversary of joining I-Boats. Time has sailed by quickly! Some updates on the livewell and splashwell, both are done. Some pics: The door...

    1987 Starcraft Islander Restoration

A 1,000 bucks for the transom, ouch! Save yourself a bunch of cash and rebuild the transom on your own. There are plenty of posts on this site on how to do it. I did it on my boat, mind you it is considerably smaller as a SS16. That would leave you more money for the inside, a lot more.

Hey SHSU, I am currently waterproofing the top with West System, two more coats to go. I will be using vinyl for the top of the LW. Once I screw the hatches in place, I will be ready to rivet the top down. that will be about it, onto the trailer and the motor.

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Hey Gents, A little more progress today. I got the top cut for the livewell, and fit the hatches to it. Quite happy with the end result, although cut was off by about one eight of an inch. Not too noticeable, but I can see it. Some Pic: The sidings are all riveted in now. As it turns...

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Hello Gents! Some more progress, but sadly came to a grinding halt today. Today I was supposed to carpet the siding for the livewell, and rivet it in place so I could fit and cut the top for the livewell. The carpeting went great, the fit of the sidings is near perfect. Unfortunately my...

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Hey Watermann, That is likely true, and I probably suffer from OCD as well. There won't be a third or second rebuild for me, this is it. Another reason why I have been so picky about things, I want this one to last. Thanks for the encouragement!

    1974 Starcraft SS16 Restortation

Hey SHSU, Pretty much. Once the boat is done I will throw a cover on it and drag it out of the garage on the cradled. Then I will put the trailer in the garage and start the tear down on that. When I get the trailer done, I should be able to push it up to the cradle and then winch the boat...
