Did you clean the carb or just put the needle and seat back in? If under load is power valve and plunger moving ok? Float level set correctly , clean the carb in an ultrasonic cleaner and rebuild. Have you checked under load with a timing light that it isnt missing?

    Water in Oil

Does the engine get up to temp or run cool? If you dont get it good an hot regularly you can get milk in oil. People who let it idle at the slip to run it can get this... SO looks like you check manifold for leaks, pressure tested the cooling system and verified water is getting into PS system...

Mercruiser 5.0 misfire and stalling NEED HELP

I would rebuild the one you have with a quality rebuild kit like like from Mike Carb parts. If it is flooding the needle and seat/float are not working or you have too much fuel pressure

    350 mpi rebuild questions

I would also not deck the block unless needed , certainly not to make pistons fit, If you do stock replacement the hyperutectic are fine. Everyone thinks marine engines are 4 bolt main forged everything , but the same chit that went in a chevy truck is fine for most uses . I have also seen on...

    4.3 vortec Mercruiser..lots of questions

Interesting idea - which the upgrade or using a wrecking yard engine? Any of these get a 96 and up vortec chevy truck engine. the 4.3 was developed by taking a 350/5.7 sbc and cutting out two middle cylinders. the front and back of the blocks are the same (except for metric 4.3 090M casting...

    4.3 vortec Mercruiser..lots of questions

Test the manifolds with acetone before reusing them. Acetone will wick through cracks better than water. cheapest way is to get a truck 4.3 fro. Wrecking yard and Marinize it. if there is room in front yiu could upgrade to a 5.0/5.7 fairly easily too. I did a similar project in winter of...

    4.3 vortec Mercruiser..lots of questions

No you just need compressed air. Basically you block off the cooling system hoses T in an air line quick disconnect and pressure gauge , put 15 psi in and it should hold indefinitely . Since the PO wasnt that bright would just verify before you get too excited.

    4.3 vortec Mercruiser..lots of questions

yeah sounds like you are cleaning up after a idiot... If it were mine I would pressure test cooling system, do a cold compression test, and look in cylinders with bore scope before dropping time and money into it

    4.3 vortec Mercruiser..lots of questions

Did water get down the intake into the engine combustion chambers? Look for signs of freeze damage if you are in a northern climate. If not winterized you will typically see freeze cracks on exhaust manifolds, outside of block by oil pan rail, and in lifter valley. Might be worth pressure...

2002 5,7 Mercruiser exhaust manifold keeps cracking - 5 times this summer

For a sanity check have you cut the cracked manifold in half to see if the wall thickness ok. Would find it odd from two manufacturers you would get this many bad manifolds but might be worth checking out before you drive yourself nuts...
