Primer for Wood for oil-based Rustoleum?

I've searched these forums extensively, Rustoleum Oil based enamel is often recommended even for wood - even for under water - if I'm mainly in freshwater. In fact, I have no reason or desire to take an 18 footer into salt water. But I'm not finding what to use for a wood primer. Rustoleum has...

Edit.... I had another question, but figured it would be best asked in another section of these forums. I don't want to cross post.

Searched - DIY Transom Cap Ideas

Okay, rubber or vinyl is what I was thinking, but yeah, if I could form some aluminum c-channel to match the Holiday's large arched transom, then I would rather keep the original Holiday transom's curve.

Sorry, what I meant is it isn't just a plain wire feed welder. Some that don't have the hook-ups for gas, can only be used with flux core. I know with sheet metal and just a wire feed welder it can be tough to not burn through. You usually need gas for thin and/or soft metals. I'm sure you know...

Yeah, I have a mig (not just a wire feed, but a mig), not a tig. I used it for sheet metal work on my 65 Chevy. Can I do aluminum with a mig?

    What do I have here?

I was trying to buy a 65 StarCraft with no title from not the last registered owner. Even for his final offer to sell it to me for $300 I walked away. . Call your local Marine Board. I needed to get certified letters out to any place the last registered owner may live. From Marine Board: "You...

I have searched thread titles, went through build threads. I found a couple ideas on YouTube. And one in another forum. . I've read some posts here where they have a shop make them a new one. And some where they use aluminum channel - even ones where they heat the aluminum and get it follow the...

Thanks for all the answers. I search for what I can. And I post my findings in here so others can benefit. . I haven't found an answer to whether the nuts on the inside for the transom support are spot welded to the support or not. The attached picture is of the upright transom support.

I've worked with wood all my working life, I keep debating with myself about the 'seal it up' so absolutely no water gets in, and something more like the OTF. My thoughts in trying to make sure the wood is totally encapsulated, and every hole (bolts and lots of screws in the bottom and at the...

Hey, I think I just figured out how to know if your transom is still the original. If every hole in the transom skin is also in the transom wood.

Now I'm reading up on protecting the floor. The floor is solid, but I want to put something over it to protect it even further. I found this thread that has some great suggestions: https://forums.iboats.com/threads/alternative-to-carpet-for-floor-covering.505010/

Not bad. I read another place that it's okay to leave it overnight before rinsing. "For heavy deposits, leave the solution sit overnight." I'll probably hit it one more time with a brush and then rinse. Gotta do the inside also.

Yeah, my wife is wondering where I'm going with her vinegar. I have some phosphoric acid left over from my 65 Chevy, but I'm concerned it might be too strong for aluminum. I'll post back my results.

Okay, thanks. My searching these forums I think ACX was recommended because it uses a glue similar to Marine grade. I'll do some more reading up on it.
