    Clearance on accelerator pump.

    Installed new accel pump on my 2 bbl mercarb - but the clearance is really tight: so much so that it binds going up and down in the bore. Is that right or would it be better to use the old one? -br

    Do you use a spring on your carb float?

    Necessary to paint carb after rebuild?

    I'm about to rebuild my 2bbl mercarb off my 3.7L 1988 stingray. Is it necessary or wise to paint it after the soak/re-assembly? reason I ask is that the paint on there now is crusty/gummy, and comes off like cheap fingernail polish. Do marine carbs need to be painted? -br
