Need Help From You Guys That Have Prop Efficiency Calculators

Agree. Getting the correct SS prop dialed in can be pricey if I don't nail it the first try. Diameter and pitch decisions still have me wringing my hands. The only thing that made sense with my 21P=>23P experiment was a 500 rpm decrease in WOT rpm.

Need Help From You Guys That Have Prop Efficiency Calculators

Thanks I know SS would improve performance. I've got a hunch my 250 hp is overpowering and flexing the aluminum blades. The SS price doesn't scare me off. But we boat in the hazardous, trashy upper Mississippi river, and every bent prop shaft I've had came from a SS prop impact. ...aluminum...

Need Help From You Guys That Have Prop Efficiency Calculators

Thanks. ...same 17% slip the Merc racing calculator gave me. My question is how do I reduce the slip % which is essentially the same with 21 and 23P three blade alum props.

Need Help From You Guys That Have Prop Efficiency Calculators

Update. I loaded a GPS speedo app and bought a 23P Solas 3 blade alum prop. Results have me a bit perplexed. The 23P prop predictably pulled WOT rpm down to 5300 rpm from 5800 with the OEM 21P. WOT GPS speed essentially a wash at 50-51 mph. Slip also about the same around 17+%. Hole shots to...

Merc prop on VP with Hub Kit?

    Thanks. Good info.

Merc prop on VP with Hub Kit?

Thanks. ...I assume a VP hub kit is required? I don't know if the Merc pressed in hubs are compatible. ...are they? I have a beat up Apollo prop from my old Merc Alpha II. I'll bring it to the river and see if it fits.

Merc prop on VP with Hub Kit?

I'm trying to dial in a second prop on my new VP SX powered boat. The prop offerings for VP are fewer than for Mercruiser. My question is would a Merc interchangeable hub prop work on my SX drive with a the correct VP hub kit? My concern is keeping the correct clearance between the front of the...

    1900ESX Prop Cavitation?

This new boat was delivered with a 14.3x21 alum prop. Awesome hole shot and acceleration, but the engine tached at the 5800 rpm red line as well as having relatively high rpms for the speed. ...don't know if the 5800 rpm was from the rev limiter or actual engine load. I always carry a spare...

    Electric Boats

Planing speed boats are energy hogs. kwh consumption is huge. Unlike a cruising auto, boats use a lot of energy to stay on top of the water. You can do your own calculations to see how long Tesla's 100 kwh, 1375 lb battery will last in any particular cruising boat. The answer is generally a...

    Prop torque induced list/roll?

I'm still getting familiar with our new boat. I've noticed it lists - rolls slightly to port when on a plane. It levels out if I make a slight starboard steering tweak. The boat floats level, stays level under no wake power. So I wonder if the RH prop torque is causing the boat to roll LH. The...

    Strakes on Bunks?

Its not 'wanting', its what I may end up when I get the boat set at my height on the trailer. I can adjust the spread and height of the front of the bunks. So I think I can get the height I want and stay off the strakes.

    Strakes on Bunks?

Thanks SD and db. The trailer has Shoreland'rs 'Equiload' system. A 'teeter totter' under the rear of each bunk that distributes that half of the load. ..another reason I bought another Shoreland'r. I'll see if I can get the bunks to set between the strakes. If not I'll relieve the bunks, or...

    Strakes on Bunks?

I bought my own Shoreland'r bunk trailer vs. buying the fixed bunk Heritage trailer offered with my new boat. The main reason I paid more for the Shoreland'r is its adjustable bunks. (solenoid reverse brake lock out was another reason). I float on and off the trailer, and like my boat as low as...

Need Help From You Guys That Have Prop Efficiency Calculators

Truly, really. I couldn't believe it was available, but it was/is. See attachment. Go to Regal's site and design a 2000ES. ...Regal discontinued my 1900ES. VP California only engines are designated as CAT, the rest are not. Note that both the Merc 4.5s are CAT. My best guess is the VP GM 4.3...

Need Help From You Guys That Have Prop Efficiency Calculators

2022 Regal 1900ESX. VP 4.3 250 hp. SX-D drive. I ordered the 240 hp VP, but it came with 250 hp. Apparently VP dropped the 240 hp. No price increase. Lucky me. The dealer whined a bit since Regal passed the increase to his invoice. It is a GM 4.3. Its nice. Direct injection plus the features you...

Need Help From You Guys That Have Prop Efficiency Calculators

I'll download a GPS app for my phone and get more accurate data. I was beating around the bush a bit. I'm thinking the boat/prop is geared a bit low for the power. My son and his tubing, wake boarding buds will love it as is. ...I think I could yank the Cypress Gardens pyramid team out of the...

Need Help From You Guys That Have Prop Efficiency Calculators

I just test drove and picked up my new boat. No complaints, but I was surprised to see a 14.3X21 P prop on a VP 4.3 250 hp with 1.97:1 reduction. (250 hp was a bonus. The boat was ordered with a 240 hp). This is dash tach and speedo data: 5800 rpm. 56 mph. Boat weighed +-3000# at a CAT scale...

How Do I Update My Banner/Signature

I finally received my new boat. I'd like to update my profile banner to replace the previous boat's engine and outdrive s/n info and replace this with my new boat's info. I'm having no luck, so if someone could step me through it, that would be great. Thanks, Dave
