Florida, beaches, boats, laws and regulation...

Thanks. I went there on the beach, then by boat, but we stayed on the ICW, travelling from north to the Keys. But this winter, I will go take a look there. Are those moorings property of a marina, a hotel? City?

Florida, beaches, boats, laws and regulation...

I went to Florida many times, but never saw boats anchored on the ocean side, near the beach. Let's say, anchored at 150' from the shore. Is it forbidden? I think it could be fun on a calm day, to just anchor there and swim or paddle to the beach.

    Engine Hard Starting when Hot

I'm ready to bet that you have a leaking injector. I also have a 2004 5.7Gi-D, and over the span of 6 years, that exact problem happened twice. Both times it was a leaking injector. Start by installing a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel line nipple. Pressure will go down when the engine is...

    Volvo Penta OBD port

Yes, works very well on my 2004 5.7Gi-D. Now I have all parameters on my Garmin, even fuel consumption. If Fox Marine could update their app to include 'clear codes' for the Android version like they did for their Apple app it would be perfect.

    Shower drain pump, no power

Thanks guys. I found the problem. The sump pump shaft was hard to turn by hand. Not jammed, but dragging and I suppose pulling more current. Didn't trip the breaker right away, but only after a while. So, I ordered a new sump pump assy.

    Shower drain pump, no power

There is no 12V going to the shower pump. The GND is good. No breaker at the helm is tripped, neither at the stern. From the schematic, there are more breakers at the cabin DC panel, where the switches are for the water pump, lights etc. And one breaker, according to the schematic, is for the...

    Is my shift cable stretched?

OK thanks, I will keep an eye on these items.

    Is my shift cable stretched?

Volvo DPSM. I remember, 6 years ago, the adjustment at the drive was in the middle of the threads. Now, I have to screw the block at the end of the threads to have the same range of motion. I checked the cable sleeve holder, and it is ok, holding the sleeve in the recess. Is there an internal...

    Raw water pump casing

I found something. (My impeller is made of rubber.) For the last 6 years, I was changing my raw water pump impeller every two years using a Sierra brand unit. It always worked well, but not this time. I discovered that THIS new Sierra impeller was 1mm (0.04'') shorter than a brand new Volvo...

    Raw water pump casing

the non even surface is inside of the pump body, so I don't see how I can reach there. Unless I don't understand what you try to explain...

    Raw water pump casing

My casing is not perfectly flat. The middle part is raised a bit. I measure a difference varying from 0.005'' to 0.020''. Is it supposed to be perfectly flat? Is that wear and if so, when too much is too much? It's on a Volvo 5.7Gi-D 2004

    Wiper arm grommet/seal

I went the easy route finally. I removed the nut, cover and grommet, put some silicone and reassembled. Flat rubber washer seemed fine though. Maybe not tightened enough? Should be fine now.

    Wiper arm grommet/seal

Boat: 2004 Chaparral Signature 260 I have a water leak in the bathroom. It comes from the access panel under the wiper motor. I don't find any grommet/seal specific for my boat, only some universal grommets on Amazon, or local boat shop. Is there still a OE part available these days for that...

    DP-SM prop shaft seals replacement

I'm pretty sure I forced the shaft in many directions. I will try again. Now I'm just wondering if an unbalanced propeller could cause the seals to let water in at high RPMs.

    DP-SM prop shaft seals replacement

Before dismantling anything, I did another pressure test and vacuum test, while rotating all the shafts and shifter. Everything is good, no loss. I checked the output shafts runout with a dial indicator, and they are within specs. The drain plug always has a new oring at every oil change...

    DP-SM prop shaft seals replacement

I have one that covers the SX and DP-A. It shows a similar arrangement, but the locking tabs and ring are different. If I have to buy a new service manual, I may be better to send the outdrive to a shop to have it replaced. But I'm a bit scared that they never worked on a SM and it will end up...

    DP-SM prop shaft seals replacement

Thanks I will do, but I doubt the SM is covered.

    DP-SM prop shaft seals replacement

Wow! that looks like a lot of force required. The outdrive is removed from the boat right now, I won't be able to do that setup. Do you know if removing the ring will destroy the bearings or adjustment? I saw behind the ring 2 tabs bent toward the front. They are quite big. I'm still not sure...
