    That was my though process as well. I'm going to pull the lower unit and backflush through the thermostat housing. I won't have a chance to work on it again until next weekend. I'll post an update then.

    Yup. Pulled the thermostat covers, sending unit, and the water blow-off valve cover and ran the motor. No water came out of any of the openings. So it sounds like I might have to pull the foot and stick a hose into the thermostat housing opening to backflush.
