    1971 starcraft holiday I/O

Re: 1971 starcraft holiday I/O Capacity is 8 people at 150#, or 1700 pounds. Which makes no sense because there is only seating for 6. Not sure on floor width, maybe 66" ? Narrow compared to todays boats.

Looking for photos- MR 180 (Mariner) early 80's inside transom area

Re: Looking for photos- MR 180 (Mariner) early 80's inside transom area Here is the stern area, with the side panels and 2 corner pieces set under the splash well. As you can see, the splashwell is very different from the trapazoid shaped wells of the 70's Also note the upper corners of the...

Looking for photos- MR 180 (Mariner) early 80's inside transom area

I recently picked up a 1981 MR 180 for a winter project, and I am in the planning stages. Interior was completely gutted, but I think all the parts are there. This model year had the 11" splash well that goes straight across, not the 24-29" splash well that was used on various models in the...

Trouble at the ramp, almost lost the truck.

Had a little trouble pulling out of the ramp. Lucky for you, a buddy made a video of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tTDn604ipYY now, if someone downstream will rescue the boat. :) just cool to see what can be done.

    alumacraft trophy help

Re: alumacraft trophy help Well, a prop MAY help. How about a side photo of the boat on the trailer, motor vertical, showing the lower unit and the bottom of the hull. Something like this, that shows the anti ventilation plate, and its relative height to the bottom of the hull.

Oh no, bought another one, !!, ???

Picked up another Starcraft. Another 18' Mariner, 1981, with the 11" splash well. The floor is gutted out. Floppy seat and center console are not bolted down, but good enough for photo day. :) Trailer is solid, welded fram, newer axle, but will be sold with the old Mariner, you know... the one...

What Rod Holders do you reccomend?

Re: What Rod Holders do you reccomend? I have had many different rod holders over the years. Really like the Attwood Pro Series, $22-29. no knobs to turn to adjust angle, just flip the lever. fits spinning and casting rods well, and holds them securely. I also have an older Starcraft...

    How waterproof is Sunbrella ??

Looking to put a bimini on one of my fishing boats. It will primarily ( 99% of the time ) be used in the rain. How waterproof is Sunbrella fabric? I know the Sunbrella is lighter, and will dry faster, but will it keep us dry? Are the vinyl tops more difficult to put in the boot? Does the...

Galvanized Steel Trailer Conversion from Rollers to Bunks

Re: Galvanized Steel Trailer Conversion from Rollers to Bunks Click photo. Bracket should be rotated 90* and mounted to the crossmember as shown in photo. Swivel mount on top will then conform to the angle of the hull. A square "u-bolt" is used to hold it in place.

    Newbie looking for advice

Re: Newbie looking for advice Motor is definitely too low. Probably 2-3 inches too low. see photo I would run an ad and try to trade that motor for a short shaft motor, 40 hp would be perfect. Seriously, think about trading for a smaller short shaft motor. It is a safety issue in that it...

Your music collection. CD, Digital, Cloud ??

I still have some LP's and a working turntable, but most of my music is on cd's. All of my cd'd are loaded into my computer, also on the backup drive, and in my iPod which is docked into the home stereo system. (15,000 songs, 87 GB of music) I don't use the cloud, because of what I've read...

    Boat id??

Re: Boat id?? Welcome to iboats. We had that very same boat for 50 years. My dad bought it used in 1963. I sold it to a work buddy last year. It is indeed a Meyers. It also looks like it has the original transom wood on both the inside and out. I think the boat was rated for 8 or 10 hp. We...
