MUC, Thank you! Can your post be added to Don’s “Must have info” sticky? Also I included a pic of the blue ok to run cap. I have been buying up all the rubber hoses for my boat and will be replacing 100% of them next year, so I had this new cap in my collection.

    New to Volvo family

Go back to post number 40 where MUC was highlighting “Volvo's can have 2 different flush systems. one of them can only be used with the engine off!” This was new to me. So I looked in the manual I have for my 5.0GXi-E and it states for the 5.0GXi-A/B, 5.7Gi-A/B and 5.7GXi-B/C (so not mine)...

    Bogging in relation to distributor

The theme here is that a weak spark is suspected. Cap/rotor get corroded and bogging down occurs. Replace and all good for a while. Elsewhere in this string is the suggestion that that other items. like the coil, can be the culprit of a weak spark > if the coil is weak to start with a little...

    Impeller rotation question

Flashback, it was only a pic I found on the internet. And agree that is a possibility and probably the case that happens most of the time given if the installer used a good lube and there were no ‘hangnails’ that would catch the impeller with a leading vs trailing edge so to speak. But why risk...

    Impeller rotation question

The key is ‘proper’. The OP said he wound up the impeller in the wrong direction and both of us provided input which is what this forum is for. I have never replaced an impeller improperly either but if I did and only realized it after starting up, I would absolutely replace it again as cheap...

    Impeller rotation question

Ouch! Given the amount of squish these impellers undergo (see example picture) I find it difficult to believe they would not be damaged doing a ‘backflip’. I am curious: have you personally put an impeller in ‘wound up’ the wrong way and then had a normal life out of it?

    Starter for V8-300-C-A

Excellent news! I expect to be tackling this job as a PM next year. I will have to measure the length of that tool compared to access in the bilge so good to know that tool did the job and now have an excuse to buy one!

    Impeller rotation question

While these impellers flex a lot by design, I am cringing at the thought of it having to do a backflip. No question it will under the force of the engine but i would suggest it has now been over stressed and will fail prematurity. And with a potential overheated engine as a result. For the cost...

    Bogging in relation to distributor

Malibu, I have seen a post where the rotor plastic is too thin (according to the poster) and the rotor arced on the back side of the rotor. Any evidence of that? Else the rotor looks good (other than apparently not being brass).

On my SX-M there is a grease nipple on the starboard side of the Transom Shield close to the actual transom. Grease is carried via a plastic tube to the gimbal bearing housing. It’s a funky arrangement and the plastic tube is not threaded, just sits there is its counterbores. See parts diagram...

    Help transom leaking

That is great got to the issue. And suggest some follow up: improperly placed clamps (as well as overnighted or wrong type of clamps) can cause premature hose failure. A clamp tightened straddling the hose bib like the mockup below can eventually cause a failure at that point (blue arrow). And...

    Bogging in relation to distributor

Yes on the brass, but i do not see that the product descriptions state whether or not aluminum or brass. The Sierra branded ones I get are brass in color and thus I assume brass. Regarding the manifold: Wow, pie crust for sure.

Volvo Penta Drive Belt - Lots of dust and quickly wearing??

All sounds good. And apologies, I now see in post # 34 good pictures of the old / new belt. And they are of the correct PN per this link. I would characterize the belt as having wear on the edge and the ribs indicating that a ribbed pulley has a lot of runout or is misaligned (the tire in the...

This is one of those areas where there are varying theories. The theory I hold to is that the Raw Water Pump (RWP), as a positive displacement pump, will suck the heck out of anything in its path. The nature of this pump makes it self-priming which is why it’s used in marine applications. And...

    Fuel return

If your fuel tank pick up tube’s bottom screen is plugged up, it will require a through tank cleaning, not just a shot of air (and agree bad idea). With your dual engine set up you have the best troubleshooting arrangement possible. Start at the Fuel Pump side and swap the hoses even if need to...

    Fuel return

Ok so not some funky dual tank mod with a single engine. And the elevation works > i.e., if one engine can pull from its tank then the other engine should be able to as well. So back to the bad anti-siphon valve, a weak fuel pump or some sort of other blockage that your hand siphon can overcome...
