I searched and didnt find anything. I drained my bravo 3 with sump. removed the cap on the sump in engine compartment. Pulled the bottom plug, no metal on magnet. Pulled the vent plug, oil drained from outdrive. Let it drain for 30 min or so. It stopped dripping. Looked in eng...

    Boat engine hatch coring

Coosa board all the way. Yes it is more expensive, but you will never have any more problems with it. I used it on a swim platform and was extremely satisfied. Clean out the hatch, drill some holes about every 12" or so on the board, fill hatch with resin, place board on the resin, weight...

    prop for pontoon

Or a bad impeller. Check your impeller if you haven't in a while. As for your prop. Look at the recommended WOT rpm for your motor and if your'e in that general area, it is not your prop, which wouldnt really cause it to overheat, but more of a over speed. Check where your outdrive is in the...

    Corrosion/coating on props question

Were in twin beaches area. Anodes are all pretty eroded. Changing them all before putting back in the water. Also, changing the continuity grounding cables. All were broke or gone. The last guy didnt do a good job taking care of it. All in all, the outdrives look ok. No real corrosion...

    Corrosion/coating on props question

I don't know if it was paint or growth. But some muriatic acid/water cleaned them up nicely. Ill monitor them and see how they do. It looks like someone might have painted them a long time ago and it was just wearing off. Barnacles came off easy. Im in Chesapeake bay, about midway up so the...

    Corrosion/coating on props question

I got all the barnacles off and most of the other gunk. My querstion is about the thin film of dried stuff. I think it is a layer of dried algae or something. You wouldnt paint stainless props would you? Im not saying someone would. LOL I just think a nice polished prop would run better in...

    Corrosion/coating on props question

Hey all, Im used to aluminum props, but now have a Searay with stainless props on it. Duo props on twin mercs B3s. My question is, normally I would take my aluminum prop off, clean the shaft, relube, clean up the prop and repaint it. These new props have no paint, but have a corrosion on...

Question about water circulation in closed system

Not sure what you mean by taking it off. I take it your talking about the water distribution housing. And yes, it is a piece of crap. Why make anything out of plastic. I just dont know. Anyway, like i said, i will be just using the blue drain plugs and fill with antifreeze in winter. I...

Question about water circulation in closed system

Ok, so what Ive done so far.Mercruiser 350 mag mpi horizon, closed cooling system. This system uses the blue pump to open up drains. Of course, that didn't work at all. So, in case that doesn't work, your supposed to remove 5 blue drain plugs. 2 on the sea water pump, 1 fuel filter, 1 water...

Help with identifiing a part on a 350mpi horizon

The air actuated and the single point drain systems are almost identical. The single point has the blue handle on the top of the engine that goes down to the water distribution housing under the engine, the round part above. the air actuated system is almost identical, except instead of the...

    Prop ventilation?

I think this guy has the right idea. when you get on plane, the top of the prop is out of the water and causes cavitation, introducing air into prop water and allows the prop to over-speed and lose efficiency.
