Need help finding two part numbers

I am trying to find the part number for pin that goes in the gimbal ring that holds the Bell housing in it. The locking pin I used to hold it in must have came out, and then the pin worked it's way out while at the lake or along the 30 miles of road.... It is a 1975, but I believe the part was...

    Using a hitch extender

Re: Using a hitch extender My homemade 4' hitch extender. Made to handle my 4000 pound boat/trailer combo, with a bike rack :D (Or 2 bike racks  ) Made 2 years ago in my free time for $20. Not recommended unless you know what you are doing though. P.S. Safety chain extenders to my...

    Lost Screw on transom

Re: Lost Screw on transom Well I tried the 2 different sized zerk fittings, neither fits. The 1/4's thread area just fell through the hole and the larger one doesn't even act like there is a hole there. Without this I cannot add geese to the upper pivot pin and I also have a slow water seep...

    Lost Screw on transom

I lost the screw that goes where the arrow points in the picture. This is a mercruiser 1974 transom piece. Does anyone know the specifications of the screw or know of a diagram showing the screw and it's specifications. And where to find one? Thanks

    Electric brakes, braking force?

I just got to wondering, what is the braking force difference between 7 inch electric brakes and 10 inch electric brakes. I had to go with 7 inches brakes on my trailer (only drum I could find to fit my rims and didn't want to replace 5 rims) however even with the boat off the trailer I am...

    94' Wetjet 200 duo

I know how to winterize it by draining the coolant lines, fog it, stable the fuel, and run the stable through the primary and 2ndary lines. Is there any other yearly maintenance I need to know about? I inherited this from my father when he passed away, so I don't know anyone I can ask for help...

    Lost my skeg anode

I was out today, took the boat out. I was packing my gear down and my friend walks behind the boat and says "Isn't there suppose to be something here". The skeg you adjust to counter the prop force so you have equal steering was gone. Flashback I was looking everything over today before leaving...

Just to to thinking about what if someone rear ended my boat

So, say someone rear-ended my boat while on the trailer. Probably the lower unit would be trashed, and maybe the transom. So, how does this work out for insurance? Does a boat shop do the work and bill the other guy's insurance or what? Hey, maybe I can take the trashed aluminum prop off and...

    Spare Tire

Re: Spare Tire I got tired of lugging the tire around. The regular spare carrier wouldn't work for my pwc trailer. Found 1 spot that it fits with $4 worth of u bolts from Menards. And just for fun I included my cheap setup for a trailer jack and trailer mover. (Cheep because it is storage of...

Fixxed my boat, broke my mower

Well, today I got the motor dropped back in the boat and ready to go. Got it running well, and went to put the boat away from my front yard. (My water is horribly bad on the driveway) I backed up the mower, hoped off, lowered the tongue, pulled the mower back and dropped it down on the ball, or...

Stuck trying to take gimbal ring out

Re: Stuck trying to take gimbal ring out So, I got it out. Turns out the shaft was hung up on the gimbal ring where I tried to drill through to place a bolt in to see if it would work. I also found out that the way I hit one of the threads was what enjoyed many of my drill bits. Looks like my...

    Oil Pan seal question

I had a small oil seep from the pan when the engine was running. I pulled the engine out to make other repairs and I had a question about a broken seal around the dipstick tube. It was hard to get a picture of the broken seal. How hard would it be to replace this seal? Where would I get one...

    Rough idling 2005 Chevy Silverado

I keep having a rough idling issue on my Silverado (5.3 liter v8 flex fuel) after high RPM for a short time. Happened 5 times within the last 30 days, 2 of which where while I was towing the boat the the others were when I was running late and flooring it. Sometimes the engine miss fire warning...

    Tyvek

I was thinking, wouldn't putting Tyvek down on top of the wood below the carpet really help to extend the life of the floor and wooden supports? Since Tyvek is supposed to allow moisture to go 1 way but not the other, shouldn't it help cut down on the moisture that is down inside the deck? Any...

Stuck trying to take gimbal ring out

Re: Stuck trying to take gimbal ring out I have tried to feel the nut in case there was one there, but I can't feel anything there. Including a picture of my replacement parts. As you can see, no thread for a nut on the replacement spindle.

Stuck trying to take gimbal ring out

I have a 1975 MR-1 (prealpha) and I am trying to remove the gimbal ring. The splined steering connection is holding me up and I can't figure out how to remove it. Any advise or guides you guys can come up with? Hoping to get the repairs done by Saturday.

    Sharpening drill bits

Any stores that you can think of that will sharpen a metal drilling drill bit? I tried on my grinder but I cannot get it just right. Seems waste full to go keep buying new bits.

Lost Steering on old Mercruiser gimbal ring

Re: Lost Steering on old Mercruiser gimbal ring I guess it is a bit less gap then I originally though. You can see in the picture that the very bottem of the teeth are left but above that appears to be stripped out. I'm thinking the best way may be to weld it, having the boot covered up to...
