The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
No, I thought the foam is only for flotation purpose. Thanks for your reminder.
I laid one more layer of fiberglass cloth to most of the bottom hull, hope that will give extra structural support. I don't have plan to add foam in at this time.
Update of my project:
installed stringers: middle one is marine grade plywood, the two on each side are pressure treated lumber. I read a lot about not using lumber as stringers, but I don't want to purchase expensive marine ply, plus that lumber sits in my garage for over year taking space.
I...
I coat the ply first, wait to dry, then brush resin and apply cloth. It's true there will be extra resin between cloth and ply. I will avoid this in the future.
Thanks for the encourage and help. I have read quite a few threads here including 1961 Lonestar Flamingo - SPLASHED w/Pics and a lot youtube videos. I remember Scott Danforth mentioned transom get rotten before strangers, which push me to cut the transom when was wondering around.
The thickness...
I purchased a 'boat' from an auction, called 'Photos Posted from Every Angle! - Take a Gamble & Bid Away!' Actually there are only 2-3 PS photos showing the outside. It's actually a project boat, shown in the pictures.
I decided to complete the restoration project by my self after a few days...
The secondary resistance of three coils: 1985ohms for the two old one, 2650 ohms for the new one. New coil is higher than old one. Primary resistance all about 0.5ohms.
Maybe it's not a good angle. all three throttle plates are closed. I have updated new video after installing power pack and one ignition coil. How do you think the sound now.
Installed one new coil first, tried, it's still as before. then I installed the new power pack, the following video is...
Hello Raceone,
I bend the gaps to 3/8", the motor won't start at all. Then I bend the gaps back to 1/8". She starts but still runs rough. Does this indicates the voltage received by spark plugs is not high enough? Will mostly power pack problem or stator problem?
Hello, how did you solve the problem eventually? I have similar problem. On a 3-cylinder 70HP Johnson outboard, only the bottom cylinder work properly. Switch coils and spark plugs, found they are good. The two bad top cylinders have weak and paused sparks.
Updated:
I switch bottom coil and the middle one, by changing the terminals in power pack and switch the spark plug wires. The bottom cylinder still work fine, it is with the middle coil now. Can this prove the middle coil is good? The middle cylinder still has problem, the firing is not...
Check the spark plugs firing again. Found more problems already.
Only the bottom one provide steady and bright light.
Top and middle ones will light up a few seconds and stop a few seconds, then repeat. I don't think they go bad at the same time, not 100% sure.
I am thinking I need two new...
Thanks for your help.
I adjust the linkage for throttle and choke, to my naked eyes throttles are closed.
Cylinder pressure seems fine, 121, 115 and 115psi from top to bottom.
SPARK PLUG GAPS is less then 1/8", much less than you said 3/8". They are
NGK 3579 BZ7HS-10 Nickel Spark Plug. The spec...
