The iboats forum moderators are excited to announce that at this time it appears the iboats forums posting pictures function is working once again. Though we cannot promise for how long, we're hoping for indefinitely.
I have connected a new commander 2000 to my 25hp Mariner outboard. This replaced mercs previous commander model from 1998. Both throttle and gear cables were put to the same settings as the earlier models cables were set.
When shifted into forward, all is good and the motor accelerates as soon...
I was hoping to be able to have a water temp gauge on a boat I've built with the mariner installed. It has a new commander 2000 controller with a new 8 pin cable connected to motor. I understand the tan colored wire is the sender for this gauge. The issue is that there is a single tan wire at...
I am wanting to install an oil pressure adapter kit on my 1998 25hp 4 stroke mariner outboard so I can feed the signal to a pressure gauge. The instructions that mercury service tech sent me shows to remove a plug from port side of powerhead and thread in the new pressure sensor .
I see no plug...
Here is what merc tech sent me to use. Shows tan wire to temp gauge. Again, i assume i can use the seperate tan wire coming from the 5 pin connector. This diagram doesnt show the tan wire at the 5 pin...the commander 2000 wiring diagram shows it in detail. I can't see any harm in trying it.
Any...
Thanks for the replies. Does this mean that if tan/blk and tan/wht are meant for light indication only, there won't be a signal wire for a gauge as well? If the tan/blk is for an overheat lamp, then according to merc's diagram the tan wire is available for a signal to the temp gauge. I was...
I'm trying to determine what wire color the signal wire is to an oil pressure gauge for a boat I'm building. The motor is a 1998 mariner bigfoot. 25hp, 4 stroke. The wire coming from the oil pressure switch is light blue and goes to the ECU.
Currently at the motor there are 3 wires with bullet...
I've attached 4 pics showing the existing wiring setup from the old merc controller and the cable ends from the new mercury controller. I found the 5 pin cable you refer to. My first question is what the 3 wires are for on the left side of motor in pic. They are tan/black stripe, tan/white...
I have a 1998 Mariner 25hp 4 stroke that has been serviced and is ready to install on a home built boat. I'm having difficulty with the wiring for the instrumentation I will be installing. Unable to get any local help with this, so I am looking for support with questions on the wiring colors...
Looking to replace the side mount controller that came with a 1998 25 HP 4 stroke Mariner bigfoot outboard. The cables are not long enough for the boat I'm building and I would like to upgrade to newer technology controls. I'm trying to determine if Mercs newer line of controls would replace the...
