I'm almost ready to install my new hatches. They are 3/4" carpeted plywood and will be attached to a 3/4" carpeted plywood deck. So, what width of hinge do I need to use? -- 3/4"??

    Mixing and applying poly resin

I've never worked with resin before, but I'm trying to coat some plywood right now. I mixed what I thought was the correct amount of resin (1 quart) and hardener (3.5 tsp). I managed to coat two panels, but all of the sudden the mixture starting setting up, I guess. It had the consistency of...

    MDO board

I am rebuilding my hatches and I'm going to use 3/4" outdoor wood paneling. A guy from a quality lumber store said to use MDO paneling. He said it won't sag or bow like regular outdoor paneling. From what I understand, MDO is plywood with a thin veneer of MDF board on each side. This is what...

    Temperature relation to carpet glue

I bought outdoor carpet glue from Home Depot for my new carpet install project. (I don't want to use contact cement). The directions say to apply the glue when the temp is 65º or warmer. I was hoping to do it this weekend, but the temps will be in the mid to low 50s up here in Wisconsin. Can I...

    Grease fittings

I need to put new grease into the fitting on my lower unit of a 92 115 Merc and also in the front for the steering rod. Is there a special marine grease that I need to use for that?

    Oil slick??

I'm still a rookie when it comes to boating, but I'm curious to know more about my motor. I started it up for the first time this year after it being winterized last fall. '92 Merc 115. It started up like a charm. I'm curious to know about the oil that comes out of the motor. I noticed a very...

    Rubber trim for carpet

I will soon be in the process of replacing the carpet on my bass boat. On a lot of boats these days, I see a rubber trim or molding that covers all of the edges of the deck carpet. The trim is attached to the fiberglass. Does anyone know where I can find something like this?

    Raising the front deck

I am planning to recarpet my bass boat this spring. Right now, I have two storage compartments at the beginning of the front deck. The compartments have lids that sit about two inches about the deck surface. I'd like to remodel this, so everything the flush-mounted like more modern bass boats...

    Trim anode

I have a '92 Merc 115 and at some point during the season last year, I lost my trim anode. I'm not sure if this coincides, but I also found that I didn't have a good of a hole shot as I used to. Does the trim anode have an affect on the hole shot?

1992 Merc 115 Intermittent warning noise

Low oil wanring even though my oil resevoir is full. I've replaced the oil resevoir because the gauge inside that measures the oil level wasn't working very well. I also replaced the oil sensor module at the same time. The noise went away for about a week and then it came back. I hear the noise...

    Maaco paintjob

I'm really thinking about painting my bass boat. It's the 70's brown and gold fleck paint. The finish is in near excellent condition, but I'm really tired of the brown color. Unfortunately, I do not have a space to repaint the boat myself. My plan would be to do all of the prep work myself...

    Booyah Dancin' Buzz

Anybody ever hear of this buzzbait? Bill Dance used it on his show. It's like a buzz bait, except that the jig, skirt and hook are way back at the end of a 15" wire leader. It makes it easier for the fish to attack the bait. Seems like a good idea. Just wondering if anyone has heard much about...

    1992 115hp Merc outboard

I'm fairly new to boat maintenance, so I'm hoping someone can help me with a few questions regarding replacement parts:

1. I'm missing a small part that fits just above my propeller (maybe the trim tab?). It's supposed to help my steering, I think. What is this part name and how do I...

What do I need to do for premixing my oil

I have a '91 Merc 115. I want to bypass the oil injection pump and begin premixing my oil. I only have an internal oil reservoir underneath the cowling. So, what do I have to do to bypass the intermittent alarm sensor and the oil injection pump? Then, how do I premix the oil (right in the gas...
