Faztbullet- Yes the motor just cranks and cranks. The spark tester I was using was from harbor freight though, and my buddy who was checking it said it was more of a flashing spark than continuous.
recerone- Do you know what the compression should be on it?

I just replaced the stator. I have spark on all 6 cylinders but the motor is still not firing.plugs are fine, battery is charged, I have no idea where to go from here. Any ideas?
I found one ending in 35. My question is that my original stator has 7 wires coming from it, the a35 has 8. I read in a review section that they had left the extra wire unattached and it worked fine. Is this the case?
I have a late 80s mariner marathon 135. I believe the stator is bad. The part # is 3985454A6, but I can't seem to find any with that exact number. Are there any other compatible replacements?
