    Either cut the old jet out and re-use or get just about anything the right dia (like a piece cut out of a brass bolt ) and drill a hole in it about the same size . I used a roll your own cigarette butt stuffed into the hose to dampen pulses on my fuel injected Ducati ...been there for years ...

    Detonation ,its only done one cylinder , mostly adjacent to the exhaust port , which can rule out a few things. Poss lean running on that cylinder

    So you can be 90% sure its not the pump , but its not the only thing involved in getting fuel into the motor . If you can check fuel pressure at the carb inlet and verify there is enough pressure as the engine is dying you can eliminate a lot of stuff 🙂

    Leaking crank seals are likely to cause lean running and maybe loss of power but I dont believe they would completely stop the motor from running .

    Just push it a bit further into the hose ....or cut the hose to get it out and then stuff it into a new bit of hose if the old hose is starting to deteriorate ....bit of grease on it so it slides in easy ....Bobs yer auntie 😁

    Rock chips (12mm) and tar are NZ's go to for nearly all roads. Called chip seal , can be volcanic rock ( basalt or andesite ) or quartz based river stone . Local government tender the work out to various contractors and mostly the quality is not that good
