    Ayuh,...... The idea is to remove any residual gasket material, 'n obviously care must be used,.... there should be clean iron, before the new gaskets are installed,.... I believe the allowable variation is .003",.... I have big air in my shop, so my die-grinders are air powered...

    Ayuh,..... That means they are agreeing with my post #12,..... Running that manifold will cost you a new motor, because that manifold is rusted out,.... The gasket sealing surface is but a small part of a rotten manifold,... At some point, fairly soon, that manifold will dump raw water...

    Ayuh,..... Way back when I replaced the transom wood in my '74 Starcraft 221 Islander, I cut off a strip of the transom cap, changed out the wood, then pop-riveted a new piece of 1/8" aluminum, which being twice as thick as the original, gave me the perfect surface to mount my down-riggers,....

    Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... a simple way to go would be to use abit longer bolt holding the winch, 'n put a length of chain on the bottom of it, 'n a hook to slip onto the bow eye,.... You'd need a longer bolt, 2 nuts, the chain, 'n the hook,.....

    Ayuh,...... Isolate the block, 'n pressure test it with 'bout 15psi of air,... If the head, or block is cracked, you'll hear it, then follow the sound,....
