    Fiberglass Hull Restoration

That was one of my many DUH moments. Yes, wet sand, so no to palm vibe sander. Or is there an electric vibe sander out there that works well for wet applications?

Force Air Filters, or lack thereof

And does it really dampen the noise?

    Fiberglass Hull Restoration

Do you recommend a palm vibe sander, or by hand?

    Fiberglass Hull Restoration

Yes, I have a handheld buffer, it's a bit old and might not be as good as modern buffers though. I should probably buy a new one as the one I have was fairly old when I bought it at a garage sale many moons ago.

    Fiberglass Hull Restoration

Thank you, Scott. I will give this a try on a small spot and if the results are good I will work up a bunch of elbow grease to do the rest of the boat.

Force Air Filters, or lack thereof

So essentially nothing to worry about as long as my engine cover lining doesn't find its way in. Thank you, I never thought of it that way.

    Fiberglass Hull Restoration

Is there a particular grit sandpaper that is best for this?

    Fiberglass Hull Restoration

I have a 1988 Bayliner Capri with a 18' fiberglass hull. It's a beautiful boat but the gelcote has a fair amount of oxidation, or at least I think that's what it is. When I wash it, while it is still wet the colors are deep and vibrant, but as it starts to dry the colors turn chalky, like a...

Force Air Filters, or lack thereof

Something that has bothered me since the day I bought my first boat, 1988 Bayliner Capri with a 125 HP Force outboard motor. They manufactured this big beautiful motor but didn't include intake air filtration. Is there a way to filter the air before entering the carbs? The noise dampening...

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

My good old fashioned cherry picker, aka tree branch and come along, worked great as it always does. Powerhead is now bolted into place on the motor leg and all the new parts I ordered have arrived. The weather this week in southern Michigan is supposed to be in the mid to upper 90's with heat...

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

I am not the one who fitted the impeller that failed and as a result trashed my cylinder block. I fitted one after that dreadful day but the motor hasn't been run since then.

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

I'm glad to hear that about the flywheel, however, I already found the exact center of the break and on the opposite side I broke a small piece of it off in an effort to somewhat restore the balance. Lol, I kinda felt like Gomer Pile in the process. While ordering the new impeller and key I...

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

Since it's been close to 7 yrs ago when I replaced the impeller, I don't recall how snug of a fit that key was. In an abundance of caution, I just ordered a new key and impeller. Once I get the power head bolted up to the motor leg and the power restored so I can lift the motor all the way up, I...

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

It shouldn't dislodge but it did once already, that was 3 years after I bought the boat and I had never changed the impeller up to that point. The previous owner had the motor rebuilt because he was burning 100:1 gas/Amsoil, because he said Amsoil claims it can be done and he got tired of...

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

Update: I found a few videos on line of people rebuilding this same motor and a 1989. In these videos, I watched a couple times, I found the answers to my wiring questions. I now have all the wiring done except for connecting the wires from the boat wire harness. Tomorrow I will work on lifting...

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

Yeah, I either will need to find a replacement or take it to a machine shop where they might be able to balance it by drilling a hole out of the steel ring on the opposite side, like it appears the manufacturer did.

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

Thank you, Nordin, I appreciate it. I thought that might be what it is. I don't know why my book wouldn't spell that out for me, but it doesn't. I will just replace it and follow the corresponding orange wire from the boat wire harness. I'm assuming the alarm or light can be tested with a jumper...

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

Oh, one other thing I forgot to ask. When the motor overheated and shut down in the middle of Lake Erie there was never any sign that it was overheating, no alarm of any sort. The motor just suddenly started slowing down while on plane, dummy me, at this point I pulled back the throttle and...

    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

Attached is a few pics of the 125 HP motor I am currently working on and having issues with figuring out where some wires should hook up. I also made a short video and hope it's not too large to post here. This motor has 2 C-D units, they are from 2 different manufacturers so the wires are not...

    1988 125 hp Force rebuild

I am terribly sorry, I just read in another thread that once a thread gets to be 90 days old it is Forum policy to start a new thread. I started a new one last Thursday and will move all future replies/posts to that thread.
