    The primer bulb deflating would indicate a restriction in the fuel line from bulb to tank or the tank vent is plugged.

    About the point that FlyingScott brought up, that he did not think your motor was idling at 25 BTDC. If it was, it would be idling really fast like maybe 2000 rpm. Does it do that?

    I think the trigger magnets are different than the stator magnets. They may reside in a ring around the center. If you are getting 25 BTDC at idle, what are you getting at max timing (full throttle)? Is it off the scale like 45 degrees or higher?

    It looks like I was wrong. The linkage is working. Going to full throttle has moved the trigger counterclockwise. I wonder if a magnet came loose under the flywheel?

    Looks like something is missing from your linkages. I think it's missing a part that connects the throttle to the timing. Post a picture with it in the full throttle position.

    Trim Tab Anode

    What does it have under there? Is it a flat plate? Or does it look like something is missing? My trim tab anode fell off so I replaced it with a flat plate anode. I found as long as I trim the motor properly I don't need the trim tab.

    What do you mean "over-adjusted the floats"? After half throttle or so, it's all on the carbs as the motor is already at max timing. My guess is you still got something wrong with the carbs.

    If you find the pointer is off then you should pull the flywheel to check the condition of the flywheel key. If the key is damaged and the flywheel spun, that is even more reason to demand your money back from the scammers at the dealer.

    The video of water coming out of the cowl does not look good. I think you need to find out what's going there. It may just be the tell-tail hose came loose. But you don't want to take a chance on water going into the combustion process. Who know? Maybe the two issues are related?

    If you never rebuilt the fuel pump, you should go ahead and do it as a preventive maintenance any way. You should check all fuel lines and the primer bulb to rule out any restrictions. Also, make sure the fuel tanks vent is working.

    Since the flywheel spins clockwise, BeforeTDC is on the left and AfterTDC is on the right. I would think 25 BTDC would be the max timing setting with the idle timing setting in the 0 TDC range and possibly even ATDC a few degrees but I don't have your motors specs in front of me.

    Are you saying the timing at idle is 25 BTDC ? Sounds like you got scammed by the dealer. I'd start by demanding your money back. Then fix it yourself with help from forum.

    Probably the trigger is at fault. The trigger has one winding for the top two and another winding for the bottom two. The switch box can also be at fault because it has separate circuitry for top and bottom pairs. Swap the trigger leads at the switchbox to isolate to trigger or switchbox.

    You can swap them around to see if the issue follows the coil. You can also use an ohmmeter to do a resistance test on each coil. Th primary side should be almost zero ohms and the secondary side should 800 -1100 ohms. There is also a DVA voltage test, you should get about 300 volts AC at...

    When it begins surging, have somebody pump the primer bulb. If that improves the surging then the likely cause is the fuel pump.

    Isn't the exhaust cover on the other side of the motor? On my motor it's next to the throttle/timing arm and nothing is blocking it. But I agree. Before tearing into it, try the compression test again with a known good gauge.
