    Intake Manifold Gaskets

I did mine last month and also used the FelPro set. Other gaskets have a tendency to leak. And 11lbs was the torque I used. So far all is well after 10hrs.

I assume I need an engine alignment, vibration when drive is engaged

I am new to I/O on boats but not to engines. Any vibration is bad, period. I would have it repaired before you use the boat. Vibrations could lead to other more expensive issues.

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

Didn’t know there was 2 of the round ones on the newer B3. I figured they were working, I just didn’t think they would change on day 1. I have replaced the anodes on my outboards before and never saw a change from day one. Prop nut is on its way. I am going to skip the Mercathode system. It...

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

I will let you know how it works out for me.

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

I have an issue understanding the Mercathode system. You’re saying to install it for extra protection but from what I have read it does nothing for a trailered boat. My boat isn’t moored. So why install it? As for the anodes, I had done some reading to make sure I got the right one. Are you sure...

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

Ok. So I did some more reading and it seems that the Mercathode system is useless on trailered boats. The system only works while the boat is in a wet slip. There has even been talk about it being less affective if there is a water current where the boat is slipped as this makes the "protection"...

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

My cav plate has one on the top side in the rear, closet to the transom. It also has one on the underside by the props. 1st and 3rd pics that I posted are the cav plate anodes. Here is the link to the prop anode. https://www.boatzincs.com/PropNut-B3-Alum-Complete.html

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

Salt. As for the anode material, it came in a 100HR Mercury kit, anodes and some o-rings. I did some searching and it seems they are aluminum. I have all the bonding wires, but the Mercathode is missing. I have read that trailered boats don't really need it. But this is my first B3 so I have no...

    Bravo 3 anodes and mercathode

So, I recently did a outdrive shift cable change and replaced all the o-rings on the lower and upper units. At the same time I bought the Anode kit which was the 2 rams, front/rear lower anodes. I took it out yesterday for the first time with the new anode. When I came back, I was hosing down...

    Another Bravo 3 shift issue

Reading comprehension isn't your strong point, is it? The hard shift I had, as in the way I got the boat. Now it's way less. I was asking if it was still normal for some force to be applied. With me so far? Same goes for your 3rd response. The cable, the one coming off the control box/throttle...

    Another Bravo 3 shift issue

Well, by you say to save up for a drive sounds like you can foresee the future of a drive that’s going to break. As for the advice, I haven’t chosen to ignore it. When you ignore something you refuse to pay attention or disregard the issue. I am not refusing to pay attention as in never fixing...

    Another Bravo 3 shift issue

As of right now it’s shifting a lot better. Almost like my other outboard. So since it did get a lot better I will just use it and revisit next season/year. S. Florida is always in season. It seems I need a new gear. My outdrive engages without issue and boat move F/R, no throttle needed. I have...

    Another Bravo 3 shift issue

Yeah, I briefly look around for an upper and it’s about $1,500 more than a gear set. There’s always options on which route to take. For now it’s shifting a lot better than when I bought it. I would say it’s a tad bit harder to shift than my previous outboard.

    Another Bravo 3 shift issue

Good to know. I just don’t know if they have improved in the quality dept. Back then they were a company to avoid.

    Another Bravo 3 shift issue

Let me know when you find a outdrive that exploded because it was hard to shift into gear. This might be my first B3 but I have had boats for 25+ years. So yeah, your bad.

    Another Bravo 3 shift issue

Well, if you read what I wrote, looks like you didn’t, the old pinned barrel nut and the new adjustable barrel, ended up in the same place. Second, I pulled the drive because I didn’t know it’s maintenance history and was having hard shift. The cable was cut and the inner wire had rust. The...

    Another Bravo 3 shift issue

I have a B3. Haven’t looked at SEI in years. They use to be not so great. Don’t know if they have stepped up their quality.

    Another Bravo 3 shift issue

I also have a brand new control. I had the old style and just couldn’t stand it, so switched to the new style control. Much nicer.

    Another Bravo 3 shift issue

I read through that whole thread before, thanks. But I still need to remove the outdrive and I just replace all the seal behind it. It’s actually way better than before so for now it’s staying that way for this season or year since in Miami boating is always in season. That thing is heavy and...
