installing a remote oil filter set up, got a question....

Wait ... what? I thought the by-pass valve was integral to the oil filter. Is this not the case for typical marine applications? Anybody know here the by-pass valve on a VP 5.7Gxi? I've been thinking of installing an oil filter remote mount as my current/factory installation requires me (a...

    Too big to beach?

Here's a recent example of a resounding YES - this one is too big to beach.

    Too big to beach?

My preference to 'beach it' has mostly to do with Lake Superior ... it's pretty chilly even in July and August. You are gonna get wet if you go in stern first and down the swim deck ladder. Bow first keeps you a little dryer. Jumping into waist deep, mid-60 degree water makes my boys run for...

    Too big to beach?

You hit the nail on the head garbageguy. Read no further than this thread to see that there are many different thoughts on beaching boats ... great pic. There is much wisdom in your reply including, "have a lot of boating-experienced people with you". I started shopping for a bow ladder. I...

    Too big to beach?

I'm happy to report that my first season with "That's Terrific" (Chris Craft Constellation 26 - 29'+ LOA) concluded without incident. On more than one occasion I was tempted to beach her to access a nice sandy beach on one of the Apostle Islands ... I never did for fear of not getting her off...

Looking at a boat with Volvo power

An old thread but one I find interesting - I've got an '01 CC Constellation 26 with 5.7 GXi. It'll do 40+ mph on flat water sucking down 17+ gal/hr. How fast do you need to go?

    What is it?

I called Malibu - the P/N on my box doesn't even show up on their list. "It's a relic." I was told. I'll just put it on the shelf next to my DOS computers and floppy disks! Also spoke to the previous owner of 15 years - no knowledge of that box or its origin. The answer to this mystery shall...

    Malibu MMDC

I pulled one of these (MMDC only, no gauges or harness) out of my 2001 Chris Craft - Mod edit: no sales, give a way's or other, use PM to discuss further

    What is it?

Winner, winner chicken dinner - I think that's it. Thank you. Now for the interesting part - my boat doesn't have any electronic / Malibu gauges! Just the original Chris Craft electro-mechanicals. I guess somebody thought it might be a good idea until it wasn't! I'll call Malibu on Monday to...

    What is it?

So ... I'm winterizing my 2001 Chris Craft Constellation 26 (new to me in 2023) and inspecting all the systems and plumbing to see what I might have missed. I find this 'black box' next to my Cruisair Heat/AC (heat pump) unit tucked away behind a hatch cover in my aft berth. There are no wires...
