    I tow mine up without issue. I do put a small c clamp on the arched gear assy where if there were a failure it would wedge in the gear/sprocket. The order is drain plug in,clamp off, bats on... go 🚢 then when done i reverse that order. I never have bats on with clamp on. EVER

    In that auto restoration world they have a chrome paint. Not the fake rattlecan stuff but a real 4 or 5 layer process but I bet it aint cheap. Can do black or red chrome colors too

    I have 2 "sensors" the higher one is a regular float. The lower one is an actual electrical sensor that is made from a piece of 1/2 copper pipe, 12guage copper wire and a transistor with some other misc electronics and a relay. No float to get stuck up and never had pump stuck on because of debris

    Yes. All new shafts, bearings etc.... just about everything. Would work until I torqued cap. If it was slightly loose it would operate. Removed 1 of 2 shims and been good ever since. 3 maybe 4 seasons so far with 1 water pump change so far

    I had a kinda similar problem. I did a full rebuild on my drive including all bearings,races and all the drive shafts. Put it all together and would not turn. There are (atleast on mine) shims in the very top cap where the center post is. I removed .005 shim and freed up. Not your problem but it...

    How do you screw into fiberglass/gelcoat without chipping?

    Try the above mentioned bevel/chamfer but before attaching whatever hardware take a screw, add a touch of lube and install just the screw going back and forth to cut threads just like a tap. That way your not cutting and pulling at the same time.
