    looking to repower my boat 1988 thompson 240 ,right now i have 5.0 4 barrel/alpha 1 gen1,looked at reman 5.7 3800 dollars ,new 5.7 4600 ,now my question is are they actually brand new motors from factory or are they stating there new , but just reman anyway ,and who is a repretable engine...

    i only know a little about tb4,is it on exhaust? look on tb it will have numbers on it thats your advance . make sure the 4.3 and the 350 advance numbers are the same then it will work its either 22 or 24, just as easy,dump the TH4 and buy a delco est ignition system

    hello, 1988 thompson 240HT ,merc 5.0lx/alpha 1 gen1. Can i move my trim/tilt motor to the opposite side. Long story short ,put mercury 9.9 long shaft kicker motor on boat with 2 batts on same side ,boat would tilt ,and try to correct its self ,so moved 2 batts to other side ,but a little crammed...

    1988 mercruiser 5.0lx motor ,switching from cable steering to hydraulic steering ,i am also adding raymarine ev150 autopilot.with type 1 pump I have added hydraulic helm,and ran hoses to back of boat ,so i took old helm box, ram and cable out of boat, My question is what to do with old power...

    thanx ,all .,Bondo the price for either octopus or hydraulic are about the same price ,so now which is better hydraulic or the cable steering that i have now , im thinking if raymarine makes there AP for hydraulic steering with no other parts (plug and play) then that would be more accurate...

    i think raymarine was talking about this Octopus Sterndrive System F/Mercruiser 1983-1993 & European Volvo Diesel From 1994 ,see picture , and if thats the case ,why not just switch to hydraulic steering?

    1988 5.0lx /alpha1 gen 1 ,i switched from TB4 to a delco est distibutor kit ,and i need to check to see if shift interupt switch works correctly ,boat is on trailer now ,so can i set up a 110 gallon plastic tub and run motor and check switch ,will it give enough resistance to work and check...
