    I was holding the probes on the points.One on the part that moves and one on the screw side that the coil condeser and I think kill wire hook to.I disconnected all wires going to points.

    I watched videos all I could find.Mine does not have the access holes in the flywheel to adjust I EVEN BOUGHT A TIMING TOOL.WHEN I TRY TO ADJUST THEM I GET 0.00 across the meter.I think it should read ol for open link.I can adjust them and see the points open and still reads 0.00.I am touching...

    I GOT A NEW SET OF POINTS AND CONDENSERS FOR THIS MOTOR.SIERRA 18-5002.NO MATER WHAT I DO I CANT GET THEM ADJUSTED TO CLOSER THAN O25.anybody had this issue before.Should the point wiper be adjacent to the flywheel key or top on the flywheel taper.

    There was no plastic retainer but a thick fibrous material.Looked like the same stuff as the old packing washers but thicker one piece.My 71 20 hp parts motor had the same material in it and no retainer

    This motor ran 3 years ago.I used it a long time.When cleaning the carb 2 screws that hold the bottom bowl on were gone .Both on the same side.I have a 71 20 hp that is basically the same looks wise .I robbed 2 screws out of this bowl.The carbs looked the same.What is the difference The carb...

    I got her running in the barrel. I think the pump housing grommet was the issue she is now peeing and appears to be cranking and idling great thanks for the help

    I set points at 20 but ordered a coil gap tool and an ignition timing tool so I can get it right

    I don't see any cracks in the coils.One coil does look newer.I sanded the contacts with 150 grit and sprayed carb cleaner.I don't know enough about points to tell if they were good are not.I gaped them at 20.Do I need to replace the condensers?Do I need to lightly sand the flywheel contacts on...
