    Trailer Set Up

That roller looks like a bumper to keep the boat from hitting the trailer frame, assuming the PO boat set on it like yours. If your bow set on the roller, your boat would be setting with 3 points of contact instead of lying flat on the bunk boards.

    PSA for inboard gas owners.....

Don’t disagree with any of this, but the engineer in me got me thinking if venting could cause a problem if there was a leak. If the active leak caused the vapor concentration to be outside the explosive range, you won’t go boom. From the internet: The combustion concentration range for...

    1983 Blue Fin 16’ Resto

I put a 6” wire brush on a 4” angle grinder. It’ll take the paint off no problem. But wear leather gloves as it works well in knuckles too. It also works the grinder so I don’t overdo it. I also have a larger angle grinder with an 8” wire brush, but that’s a bit overkill for what you are doing...

18ft Boat Launch with RWD Suburban

People have put a receiver on the front of vehicle for easier trailer parking. This would keep the rear tires at the top of the ramp. But sounds like your problem is short term.

    1983 Blue Fin 16’ Resto

I’ve used the True Mods 3/4” lights. Very inexpensive and bright. When I get around to repainting the boat trailer I will convert to them. Made this below the tailgate driving/3rd brake light with them.

type and color of paint of Starcraft Islander.

Just bought some Pettit EZ top side one part eurathane. Painted the side bunk supports first (trailer and boat the same color) to see how it goes on as this is the first time messing with a boat. It went on very smooth and glossy and I’m impressed with how hard it cured. Note the bunks were off...

How to prevent jack from seizing up? Gets submerged every launch

Did a quick google search. Apparently this manufacturer has a jack with an oil port. Don’t recall seeing any oil port on mine. I like the point about drilling drain holes.

    decal removal

Reviving a 16 yo thread. Figured there should be better ways out there. Removing the decals on my 1998 Sylvan. Got one side done yesterday. To remove the glue, acetone did nothing , mineral spirits did nothing. Gasoline did the best but a lot of rubbing. Haven’t tried anything else yet. The 3M...

    spark plug question

IMO, a replacement should be the exact same length. Take all the plugs out and use a scale through the plug hole to measure the distance to the piston at TDC. Even if the plug wouldn’t hit, I would find a replacement that is the same length. Would a longer plug affect the flame profile? I don’t...
