    Hi.motor is 40 hp Johnson electromatic.it started to slide in forward gear.it would kick in few times on low idle and engine would just REV when throttle is advanced.it helps when I shift to reverse and back to forward.how to fix this problem.thanx in advance

    So I end up buying 1977 merc 850 LU.there is a catch thou.drive shaft spins only clockwise,not even a movement going counterclockwise .is this normal for this year to do that?.all gears are working correctly at prop shaft.if I recall drive shaft was spinning both ways on 1975 year.any thoughts...
