    Ablative paint hull prep

My concern was and is, about putting a fresh coat of ablative over a coat of basically powered ablative that comes off on your fingers when you rub it! Is this normal after it’s been properly prep? If you say that the new ablative coating will be able to adhere to the old in its present state...

    Ablative paint hull prep

Boat is 1982 Grady White. Only bottom paint on it has been ablative. So just to clarify, despite the fact that it rubs off on my fingers, it’s ready to paint over???

    Ablative paint hull prep

Power washed and scrubbed/sanded my fiberglass hull. When is enough, enough? I rub the hull with my fingers after it ‘s dry and I get quite a dusty coating on them. Do I need to rub down with dry rags to get this off or can I apply the new Pettit HydroCoat now?

Yes, the prop does have some tings and a few chips! Didn’t think they were that bad but could very well be the problem! Will get another prop and take her for a ride! Thanks, and I’ll let you all know!

    Shakes at low speed

‘82 evinrude starts easy, idles fine and runs great above 5/6 mph! Trolling speed is a different story as it vibrates like hell? Any ideas!

    Oil inside air silencer cover

I have a 1982 evinrude 150. I starts easily and appears to run well. Problem is, there is quite a bit of oil leaking out the base of the air silencer cover, apparently thru the gasket. Taking off the cover I noticed quite an accumulation of oil at the base of the lowest of the 3 carbs. Is this...

Boat now has list to port

I had to replace the engine in my '82 Grady White Tournament 224. Originally came with a 3.7 485 mercruiser engine but died and was replaced with Chevy 350 260 hp and appropriate outdrive. Runs great, but the boat now has a rather prominent list to port. I know the 350 is a much heavier...

Trim n tilt electric motor cuts out

Had to replace the t n t motor on my '82 evinrude 150. The new motor works, raising/lowering the ob but then cuts out. If I push the switch I hear the relays clicking but no motor movement. After 10-15 seconds the motor will start but then cut out again. This will happen 4-5 times up or...

    Fuel line size

My 21' sylvan supersporster originally came with an 88 Hp johnson spl which ran fine albeit not as fast as I would have liked. I replaced it with an 1982 evinrude 150hp. It runs ok but seems like it has more to give but for some reason, just can't! I eventually replaced the fuel line and bulb...

    9.9 kicker

Seems like a stupid question to ask but is there some way to lock my 2011 9.9 yamaha kicker in a stationary position when tilted all the way up? It flops from side to side when using the main engine. It has power tnt so that keeps it stationary in the up position but what can keep it from...

    Kicker bracket bolts

In the process of mounting a homemade 1/4 in. aluminum fixed kicker bracket on my '82 Grady White i/o. The bracket is 14 inches long. The kicker is a 9.9 yamaha weighting in at 130lbs. Yes, heavy indeed! Plan right now is to use 3/8 by 3 1/2 inch 18-8 stainless bolts. Since the kicker will...

    Alarm tan/blue tracer wire

Is this wire supposed to be HOT at all times? ie. Even with the ignition off? Am I missing something here? I'm attempting to install an alarm kit and found this wire to be hot all the time! Thanks.

Mercruiser engine harness tan/blue tracer wire

Had to repower my '82 grady 3.7 with a late 80's 5.7. I wish to install an alarm kit. The boat didn't come with one but the 5.7 engine harness has the tan/blue tracer alarm wire. The question: is this wire supposed to be "hot" all the time---even with the ignition off? I've disconnected...

    kicker bracket

Gentlemen, I just picked up a 9.9 yamaha 4 stroke with xl shaft, electric start, and tnt. It weights in at the heaviest 123lbs that I've ever tried to lift. Its going on a 22" grady white I/o. My plan is for a fixed bracket but the ones I have seen from Panther and Garelick look like they'd...

    Yamaha 9.9 kicker bracket

Gentlemen, I'm thinking of picking up a Yamaha 4 stroke kicker for my 1982 Grady White Tournament 224 I/O. The kicker has a 25 in. Shaft, electric start, TNT and controls. I'd' like a fixed bracket for the motor. When the motor is tilted the shaft will come out and up and the top of the...

    4 stroke kicker

Guys, looking into getting a used merc 4 stroke kicker. Like the idea of electric start, T/T, and xl shaft, but would settle for one with just a long shaft! So the question is, is there any specific year that I should look for or, avoid? Any recommendations? Thanks

    Temperature alarm install

I just had my 1982 Grady White tournament 224 repowered with a 5.7. The original 3.7 did not come with an alarm. How would I go about hooking one up? I've searched but can't quite find what I'm looking for. Anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

    Stator color

1995 force 120hp has no spark. How can I tell if the Stator is the original Stator or the newer version. The color is red and you can't see the windings. I've read where the newer version didn't have a covering over them so they would not over heat. Thanks!

    Spark plug gap

My 1982 evinrude came with UL77V gapless plugs. It starts and idles fine but the motor vibrates bad at idle speed when in gear but smooths out after adding a couple hundred more rpm. The plugs were all oil fouled so I changed over to QL77JC4 which came gapped at .030. I have read on forums...
