    Larson Lapline All American

Some follow up...Larson Co. emailed me back the next day to confirm this is a 1966 All American. I spent some time (minimal) buffing the deck for some therapy. Nice shine for an old boat! I could probably do more if I had the desire, but this suits me fine for now...it's headed down to the barn...

    1985 Evinrude VRO 60hp

The search for a good, reliable motor for my daughter's Steury resto continues. I think rebuilding her 60hp Sportfour is going to end up being $$$$$. I have a 1977 Evinrude 85hp on a boat that I will be scrapping out, but it's a solid motor. Found someone with a 1985 VRO Evinrude (oil injector...

    Larson Lapline All American

Well, we dropped it in the lake tonight...a bit of a rush due to Day Light Savings. I did notice before we left that the keel is pretty torn up from the trailer. After taking it off and putting it back on tonight I understand why!! The lake we went to is only 4 feet deep so I wasn't too worried...

    Evinrude Sportfour vs Starflite

I ended up getting the Larson with the 75hp Starflite. Got it for $300 and I'm planning it to be a starter boat for my daughter to learn on while we restore her boat. I'll leave this motor on this boat.

    Larson Lapline All American

Picked this up today after a couple of weeks of trying to decide about a motor for my daughter's Steury restoration. I was able to hear it run, and overall it is in pretty decent shape. It is all original, even down to the Larson Lapline gas tank. The original plan was to take the motor off of...

    1972 Steury Runabout project

Finally got back to actually working on the boat. The deck is now hung from the ceiling out of the way until the hull is completed. Got the old gas tank out, and some of the fiberglass used to join the deck and hull. We plan to do some more cutting and grinding tomorrow. How far down to we...

How much is too much in regards to HP?

As we are restoring my daughter's 15 ft Steury runabout, I am shopping around for engines. It came with a 60hp Sportfour. The boat is rated for 70hp. I am chasing a 75hp Starflite, and today found an 85hp Evinrude with power trim/tilt. I have looked for a year for power trim/tilt to fit the...

    Evinrude Sportfour vs Starflite

In the process of restoring my daughter's boat, we have to rebuild her 60hp Sportfour. I may be able to pick up a 75 hp Starflite. Is one better than the other? HP difference aside...

Buying a boat without a title...is that ok?

I may be buying an old boat without a title. It is advertised as a 16'. I thought (as least here in WI) that anything 16' and over had to have a title. He says he got the boat with the cottage he bought, and that he had no issues registering it. I am hesitant to buy it without the proper...

    New skiers!

We just got back from our annual "up north" vacation. We rent a nice place on a 98 acre lake with another family every August for a week. We have two girls, vthey have two girls, and everyone gets to bring a friend or two. So we had 14 girls with ages ranging from 12-19. This is our 6th year...

New to me 1969 Century Cheetah

I picked this up today (I actually get it tomorrow). I have always wanted a classic inboard ski boat, so I am pretty excited. Thoughts?

    1972 Steury Runabout project

We finally got started on the work for this boat. Last night we ripped out part of the floor (need to clean up the edges) and started stripping accessories. Got the motor off and onto its stand and tucked away until winter time. I do have a lot of questions I am hoping you all can help us...

    1972 Steury Runabout project

Exciting day! Recently my brother has been working on a classic Glastron (my old one actually!) and it got me re-interested in the thought of an old boat. During the process of looking around, I got to thinking that a boat project might be a blast for my 14yo daughter, Alaina. Alaina has been...
