    Real outboard pricing

We all know NADA is the worst place to find real prices on used outboards. What is the best way to value a used outboard? I'm not inclined to average CL prices since we all know they are high anyway.

    What's with the embedded advertising

I've noticed lately that when I'm on my usual sites,(iboats, craigslist) there are highlighted words that turn into an ad of some kind. Has anybody else seen this or do I need to start hunting for something bad on my system?

    Question for you business owners

I have had an opportunity present itself and had a question for you guys doing this for a while. This business would require processing credit cards off of the internet. It seems manually transferring credit card information to the banking system is inherently error prone. How are you doing it?

    Adjusting DeWalt miter saw

I've got an older single compound DeWalt miter saw that I discovered that that miter is seriously off to the right but is good to the left. Is there a way to bring it back without killing all the other settings? The 90 degree is within thousandths.

    NFL- week 10

Well, it's a good thing the Bears have the defense they do, the offense didn't do much. Still put the smack down on Detroit. Green Bay next.

    for the ford guys

I am needing to upgrade to an f250 for my work, the 2000's are in my price range. It's way more than I need for towing my 4000 lb boat. It seems the only power these come with is either the v10 or the powerstroke. Would the fuel mileage of the v10 offset the added maintenance of the powerstroke?

    Anybody making/using biodiesel

There seems to be big movement to biodiesel. Micky D's is even reprocessing their own waste oil for their trucks. I was wondering if anybody is doing it on a personal level and if the equipment/processing costs make it worth while.

    Question for the ford guys

I'm looking to replace my two wheel drive 1/2 ton tow rig with a four wheel F250 because I'm towing 3500 pounds. The question is, when is a 7.3 diesel done? I'm looking at two, a 1999 king cab unknown body miles but replaced 7.3 for 11k or a 2001 extended cab with 256k on the clock for 10k...

    torque spec please - 69 115hp

I needed to remove and clean the steering tube on my 115983e and now putting it back together. I need the torque spec on the two upper bolts from the tube bracket to the motor. Since they are the only two bolts that hold the motor to the boat, I expect the torque to be big, just don't know how big.

    1969 115 hp gear bearings/bushings

The forward/reverse gear bearings to the prop shaft are worn on my '69 evinrude 115 hp model 115983e. The BRP diagrams don't show any replacements. Any one know where to get them? I'm not about to toss a $200 gear for a $20-$30 bearing.

    next winter project

I'm looking for my next winter project and am looking at an 18' Adventure open bow. The interior looks mint and the trailer looks decent. The problem with her is she's got a 4.3l and the p.o. says it's lost compression only on #1. I know these things are almost as bullet proof as the 5.7's. Has...

    titebond frp vs pl premium

I know we all like the pl premium for gluing stuff together, I was just given 10 gallons of titebond frp adhesive. It says it's for gluing plywood, do you think I can use it in place of the pl premium?

    1969 electric shift question

First, I want to wish everyone a belated happy holidays, for the first time in a long while work kept me away from my hobby. Some may know I'm working on a 69 115 hp 115983e and am having to rebuild the lower unit. My problem is that neither of the gears is/were fixed to the prop shaft, no...

    bearing problem 69 115hp

I need to replace the bearing/bushing on my forward and reverse gears, I am having trouble finding the babbeted (?) bearing that was originally there. Does anybody know if I was to remachine an oil-lite bearing if it would hold up as well since it's a major hassle to rebuild every couple of...

    Question of balance

I've read and understood it is acceptable on a multi-cylinder motor with one bad cylinder to clean and oversize just the one piston. My question is , does this not throw off the balance of the motor? I would think considering what finely machined pieces outboards are, at 5000 rpm the weight...

need to machine a new bushing

My '69 115hp 115983e needs a new bushing on the reverse gear because some one before me ran it dry. I don't want to replace the gear for the sake of a bushing ( the teeth appear o.k.) I can measure the prop shaft but I can't find the oil clearance needed for the new bushing. Besides I've...

    testing electric shift oil pumps

I've got a 115983e that in one of my other posts tells about trashed gear bushings. Since the prop shaft is blued where one of the bushings was, I'm thinking it was run without oil for some period. Before I get crazy with a rebuild, is there a way to test the oil pump to find out if it got...
