    Best hitch protector?

Ya I just posted that pic from Amazon reviews as an example of how bad the Rhino brand locks are in that any Rhino key will work in another Rhino lock. I almost went for a Rhino until I read that! I have a swappable stainless ball (uses a cool sliding pin inside the ball) 1-7/8 or a 2 inch...

Qestion on pre-treating this hole in the aluinium transom?

So I have this hole for the past few seasons which is at least way above the water line and now I'm seeing probably the wood of the transom through it. So I'd like to finally address it. I bought this expensive stuff (like $92 for a 1.8 lb can from my boat dealer) called Gluvit. It's a 2 part...

    Best hitch protector?

Ya, does anyone really think this is security. It's what I've always used and a twist with a screwdriver and pop! I just tried to use a decent lock and the hole in the latch is too small. Sure I could drill it out bigger, but it would probably weaken the coupler.

    Best hitch protector?

I actully do use tack welds. I went to my welder and had him tack weld my pricey trailer crank onto the trailer right after I mounted it a few years ago. I avoided buying an electric model as I know how long that would last. This is New Yawk and if it ain't somewhat secure, it's history...

    Best hitch protector?

I’ve used a brass padlock for years. But bolt cutters or a twist with a screwdriver or a steel rod and the lock is gone. As to all of the above comments I’ve mentioned it in my original post. My trailer wheel locks came today. Just put two new tires on the trailer and 4 new tires on the SUV...

    Best hitch protector?

I’m looking to thwart off the thieves a little. My rig is small 15 ft aluminum on a trailer that they would love to steal for jets skis, dirt bikes etc. I have to leave my car and trailer in sometimes desolate launch sites. I already use a tire lock. But I’d like something to protect the ball...

    2011 Lund 1825 explore

I have a 2007 Lund Classic side console I bought new. I also ordered the OEM cover and it was crap. A thin piece of fabric that did not even cover or protect the rug on bow section. Came with the snaps for the Lund snap system and was totally overpriced. So I returned it and had a local...

Whats the consensus using plastic slips under an aluminum painted hull!

Thanks for the responses. Ya, I was thinking the same thing when I see people launching boats most don't back the trailer in far enough. I start with about 1/2 to 3/4's of the bunk "just under" the water line so I'm using the bunks as a guide and most of the boat is still floating lightly on...

Whats the consensus using plastic slips under an aluminum painted hull!

Years ago when I purchased my 2007 rig new I was going to screw on the 4 plastic slips on the bunk carpet. But I remember Amazon had a disclaimer not to use them on painted hulls. Is this still the case? I had to move my rig a few inches forward to adjust the tongue weight and make room to...

Using the old style adj. clamps for a fuel line or the pincher style?

Last week I ordered this 115 piece pinch type hose clamp kit that comes with a tool too. Amazon around $37. But I sent it back because I thought it was overkill for me. I figured I'd just keep a few of the adjustable SS clamps on board as its a simple fix for a split fuel line with a knife and...

2007 40 Merc 4 stroke still runs erratic low speed after $2300 in repairs?

Serial number of Merc 1C032372 New injectors, new voltage regulator, new harness, fuel filters, and the 10 micron external filter, Spark plug cables etc. So far $2,366 in repairs and still have a shaky idle and missing sounds up through around 7 mph. Otherwise over that speed it runs fine. I...

What are these tiny bugs infesting my office plants?

Well, not boat related but I figure this site has a wealth of knowledgeable members. My question is anyone know what these bugs are that are all over my plants mostly on the soil. The yellow sticky strips catch them and I have sprayed them several times with "End All" plant spray and it...

    Northeast Spring countdown...

I just asked Siri how many days till Spring and she said 63 days! I think our earliest splashdown was a few years back on the Hudson River on March 22nd. In the Northeast you never know what the weather will be. Past Sat. It was 64 here in Albany, NY. and 70 in Boston which is a few hours East...

Outboard repaired but now I have to use the throttle lever to start it . . .

This is the back drop story on my recent repair: Just got my 40 HP 2007 4 stroke 3 cylinder outboard back from the shop. Had an incident last week where the outboard over heated, but shut down automatically. But a few components got real hot and a pinhole leak in the fuelline caused some flames...

Best way to fix this damaged fiberglass section of my 40 hp Merc's lip?

Just got my 40 HP 2007 4 stroke outboard back from the shop. Had an incident last week where the outboard over heated, but shut down automatically. But a few components got real hot and a pinhole leak in the fuelline caused some flames when I picked up the cover. I put cover down and grabbed the...

Extended run fuel tank for Honda Generators?

I'm trying to put together the parts to run my 4- Honda 2200 generators off a 6.5 gallon portable Moeller plastic tank. I'm down to the final parts. The caps I bought off Ebay to fit these Honda generators are aluminum. Can I use a brass elbow with the aluminum cap. Will two different metals...

I had to replace two of my pedestal bases . . .

Couldn't locate the exact matches as I wanted the brushed stainless look to match the 3 other ones mounted on the boat already. So I went with Springfield bases and sprung for two new seat posts which fit these Springfield's where my old ones did not. These two new Springfield seat posts were...
