Needle bearing wrist pin end help won't fit!

So i'm doing a 49ci 70hp rebuild, and I decided i'm going use the needles bearings for the rod (loose vs. the factory caged ones) that came in the rebuild kit. my issue is this: they each come with 29 needle bearings (loose).I can get 28 on, but the 29th absolutely will not fit! it has a gap...

1990 Johnson GT150 wont turn over

get a $10 remote jump starter and try that to eliminate the control box/key switch! how does the 20amp fuse look?

    No spark, desperate!

no he's saying disconnect the black/yellow wire at the pack. it could be grounding it out. but when you put the new stator on... nothing's rubbing the flywheel causing it to spin slower right? i wouldn't use a booster pack in the future... not good for the ignition. what you really need is a...

piston to cyl head clearance... 3 cyl looper

i appreciate it. i asked an old OMC tech about this and he laughed at me for worrying just like you said haha. he said if you are really paranoid, take some modelling clay or nephew's play-doh and put a ball on top of the piston to see if its hitting the head, but he said forget it you are fine.

1992 Johnson 140 Looper install fine tuning questions. Rough idle/stalling after install.

it sounds like the guy who installed the throttle cable did not take the slack out or did something wrong somehow if it ran fine the 1st time then got itself out of wack the second time. you really should invest $25 or so for a used factory service manual! could be idle circuit is dirty! the...

1990 70 Evinrude stalls after 1 hour full throttle

the upgraded t stat spring is in the new kit, along with the indicator elbow. i've had a few i changed the spring to a stiffer one, and others I didn't. don't see the difference as long as it unseats at high speed to bypass the tstat and doesnt over-cool at idle i see no issues.

Dropping Idle - Evinrude 48 SPL

i guess it's possible the emulsion tube in one of the carbs is partially blocked. the primer will just squirt a shot of fuel in with a quick bump of the key so its not a choke. just a little tap is all thats needed to see if it's lean or rich or just right.

piston to cyl head clearance... 3 cyl looper

Hey that's a good point about older, tired motors! Yea i was just going to check how much, if at all, the piston protrudes over the cylinder. now i just hope it didn't increase compression too much. Don't want a motor that will only run on premium without detonating. honestly i'm not even sure...

Trying to figure out carbs on a 1993 120 looper

how do you figure they are backwards? remember, these are for AIR, so the larger the orifice, the leaner it gets. fuel is opposite. the easiest way to tell is if the jet is vented ie. pointing straight out to atmosphere. fuel jets are metering fuel by fuel passing through them, air jets / bleeds...

1992 Johnson 140 Looper install fine tuning questions. Rough idle/stalling after install.

you must disconnect throttle cable to do any idle speed adjustments. its the screw under the cigar-shaped plastic housing for the timer base linkage. then once idle set, re-install throttle cable on the throttle arm, then adjust the thumb wheel so it's slightly pulling the idle speed stop screw...

96 115 johnson won't run on low idle

a rough estimate of rpm out of the water in neutral on the hose is 1000RPM give or take. Some of the older service manuals had a table telling you what the rpm should be on the flushers (no back pressure), in the water (backpressure) and in forward gear idling. the 3 cyl motors were 1100-1200rpm...

96 115 johnson won't run on low idle

J115TLE (DA) is a crossflow motor. when you say turned the idle down... are you doing it properly by disconnecting the throttle cable and using a shop tach with the engine in gear in the water adjusting idle stop screw? if you don't the idle wont respond and/or be all out of wack with the link n...

1995 Evinrude Intruder 150 falls on its face

if it doesnt respond to pumping the bulb, it probably isn't the fuel pump on the OMS. just a word of caution: ebay is full of horrible aftermarket carb kits. just be sure to get factory or NOS ones. not a spot you want to go on the cheap.

    substituting a v6 stator for a v4 engine

no 170v is plenty. ususally one or two cylinders is off by 20-30v.check the condition of the primary terminal metal on the end. might have some corrosion. i'd be suspicious of the sensor coil next. did you test resistance of the orange wires from the pack? they should all be relatively even...

1995 Evinrude Intruder 150 falls on its face

if it's not responding to idle needle adjustments, it's drawing in air somewhere. make sure those side plates on the carbs are tight. also make sure you didn't roll any of the carb to manifold o-ring seals... very easy to do! i've had to re-use old ones at times because the ones in the kit just...

1990 70 Evinrude stalls after 1 hour full throttle

if it's overheating, it will stall and be hard to start again. that is if no damage was done.

1990 70 Evinrude stalls after 1 hour full throttle

racer is asking because the indicator elbow MUST NOT be on the bottom of the exhaust housing. it must be re-located to the top of the block (new updated water pump kit has all the parts you need save anaerobic sealant and a drill bit/grease). that way it "burps" the air out so water can...

Dropping Idle - Evinrude 48 SPL

it sounds like it's either a fuel pump or running hot/lean. i'd check head temp and make sure the warning horn/temp switch is working. when you push in the primer at idle, what happens? does it pick up RPM or die off? if the low speed needle is making it respond, its probably not dirty...
