    Just curious - could that crack in the jacket within the galley be die ground out and JB Welded if its just a water jacket and hence not under immense pressure, or would that not work?

    Quick update on this one, took the belts off tonight and fired it up - sounds the same. So I’ve ruled out the alternator, power steering pump and water pump… If this boat has a noisy gimble bearing could that noise make this sound? Any ideas what else it might be?

    I have the same as well, 4.3MPI, 4,000 RPM and 40mph. Have dropped from 21p Ali to 19p stainless and made no difference.

    Hi, I have a 2005 4.3 MPI MerCruiser that sounds a little strange. Does this sound like it is coming from the water circulation pump? Hard to tell when listening to it. I’ve replaced the alternator and it still sounds the same (that wasn’t charging hence the swap out) also the tensioners spins...

    Great info guys thanks! Last night I took a wire wheel in the drill to the manifolds and cleaned them up / repainted. They look great now and hardly any corrosion as suggested by Lou C

    Thanks, that’s exactly what I did (replace thermostat) it’s now reaching temperature correctly. I haven’t water tested it yet other than running it on the hose and all seems good now (it’s reaching temp for the first time) It was interesting to see what I thought was stopping the thermostat...

    Yeah makes sense, I’d prefer to be able to run it hard for 20min to make sure all is good. There is zero warranty through a broker in the UK, big risk really. It’s not cheap either.
