My Stratos rebuild was 94 straight days. Got a lot better after the demolition work.

    1995 Crownline 202BR Restore

Great work so far. When I did my rebuild, it was with epoxy. Took about a month before the budget overflowed into just throwing money at everything.

Here is an example of what you might find. Daunting? Yep. Cool as hell when done? Double Yep. https://www.iboats.com/threads/1995-crownline-202br-restore.778273/

    1985 Cheetah transom repair.

I kind of get excited when I see someone undertake a boat restoration project. It is a daunting task to consider. When I found that the Stratos was waterlogged, my heart sank. It was my first CC and I loved it. I was filled with dread at the prospect of a rebuild because although I had worked...

Boat cover for FourWinns Sundowner to use when towing

My retire neighbor has a lot of top tier woodworking equipment and makes outstanding cabinets. He always gets tied down with custom jobs when he has other things to do. I told him once that he needs to just double his rate so he gets less business. Could have been the same for your canvas guy.

Boat cover for FourWinns Sundowner to use when towing

Kind of in the same boat as you. The stitching in my bimini cover is rotting out. I've fixed it here and there but it has gotten to the point where I need to remake one using the old one as the pattern. No one makes this size of cover so, It's on me. FWIW. I've sewn heavy duty cycling bags...

    When boating, always ___________________

I suppose I should have been more clear and said "When underway, ..." In my boat, if we are on plane, all life jackets are on and the kill switch is connected. I do need to come up with a kill solution when I am trolling alone though. Something that works with the main OB as well as the 8HP kicker.

    When boating, always ___________________

Use a kill switch. My nephew and I were in Minnesota many years back. From the kitchen in their family cabin, we saw a boat doing circles across the lake. Thought it was kids fooling around. When we came back in later in the evening, we learned that a lady had been tossed from the boat and was...

    1985 Cheetah transom repair.

One mistake a lot of people make is not cradling the hull. This is especially important if you go down to bare fiberglass which is what I did. I did have some water intrusion in the deck that I am fixing along with replacing the transom. Rather than patch it up, I'm pulling the cap again. Easy...

    1985 Cheetah transom repair.

oh to have an insulated garage. My last rebuild. Not quite a BBE, but tarps were used to keep water out when it rained. By this point, the deck was back in place and I used the pullies to drop the cap as needed before securing it to the hull.

    1985 Cheetah transom repair.

Like me, you will likely get yourself a Big Blue Elephant. That is a structure with blue tarps to protect from weather like rain. Cold here too so I'm pulling everything out that I can get out and reworking hatches and prepping to recore my console. Amazingly enough, small cellulose eating ants...

    Grease Seal to Spindle Fit

IMHO Bearing Buddies are bad news. Grease goes in but never gets to the bearing by the seal. I am lucky in that my Rockwell axle has a grease zerk at the end of the spindle. The grease goes through the spindle and enters the internal cavity in front of the seal. When you pump in grease, you...

Trailer wheel bearings - standard or stainless

Make sure that you only use good bearings. We had some cheap Chinese ones in our hubs and had one disintegrate on our way back from the coast. Luckily it was within 20 miles from home.

What’s the Best Way to Transport a Boat Safely?

Could be AI training. We call them AIs but they are not truly intelligent. I believe that Musk bought Twitter to train Grok.

    1985 Cheetah transom repair.

To add. You might want to start up a thread in the Boat Restoration, Building, and Hull Repair subforum. I am unfamiliar with the boat model but it looks like an I/O. If the transom is soft, you more than likely will have more wet wood in the boat. That is not a deal breaker but be aware of the...
