    Have you eliminated the PS cooler? If everything else was checked then suspect a leaking head gasket blowing combustion gas into the cooling system

    MPI would indicate a cool fuel module .Why not describe whats happening cause those pumps are quite robust.

    a pic of the head would help identify std or vortec type. Manifold looks to be a standard 12 bolt type not 8 bolt for vortec.

    The one I had was quiet as a mouse, no rotating noise. Only when the bearing cap was removed did it fall from the block

    a very lean mixture setting will do the same thing , get the special tool, or cut it off, grind it off, etc and open the mixture up

    I would review your work making sure the base gaskets are correct. Never use grease on rubber impellers, K-Y is better.
